Exactly, I’m pretty sure Leo said there would be no more pushbacks on the date unless there were localised lockdowns.

Yeah that was my understanding. I see grogans tweeting the same. Maybe the leaks are wrong. As they are in for such a headache if they put it off again imo. A great day of radio awaits!

Is it not the case that the upsurge is largely because people got sick of the restrictions on closed setting including pubs and functions so decided to have parties in houses which would not allow social distancing. Is it a reasonable argument that if there was socially distanced venues open, we would not be facing the current upsurge?

Yeah but Dublin is getting local restrictions so thats their way out of it for another 2 or 3 weeks you would guess.

Still makes little sense when those that are open aren't the ones contributing to the increase

I'd be OK with that, but in that scenario on the 21st all pubs and restaurants serving food would also shut.

They’re well within their rights to. What happens to all the stock ordered for the reopening pub owners were told was happening?

Nah pubs and restaurants already open aren't being shut.

They're already muddying the waters. Dublin is going into level 2 appearently with parts of 3, such as the household restrictions. Essentially a level 2.5

Sure look even hiring an external PR company won't save today from being an utter mess.

There'll be more questions than answers I'd guess

So outside of Dublin from next Monday 21st we can walk into a pub and just buy drink given there's room etc

Close is 11.30pm with last orders 11pm

Why does the Television volume need to be low, does Covid not like low pitched sound or something?

It's just so people are not inclined to shout and thus spread more droplets I think.

The thinking is the louder the volume which means people may have to shout to be heard which could lead to a greater spread of droplets etc

    Dublin -
    non food pubs = closed?
food pubs = same as now?

    Outside Dublin -
non food pubs = open 21st?
food pubs = no need to buy food to have a drink from 21st?

Well that's truly ridiculous,so what's stopping pubs from opening with a menu but you don't have to buy food

So if Dublin go from 2.5.to 3 they can open the 'wet pubs'.

Outdoor seating at stage 4, but I don't think any pub will risk that in November...
