I'm not sure if this is the right place to post so admin can move if they want. I've had a headcold since yesterday, nothing major I'm not 'sick' no cough but have just got a random metallic taste in my mouth. Did anyone who tested positive here have a metallic taste?
Yes, altered taste and smell is a symptom so I'd advise contacting your GP to let them know and see if they recommend a test for you.

It's a barbers not a cafe so very close customer contact.
Customers might get a contact tracing text in that case because of the proximity, but people won't necessarily know why or where they were exposed. They could have deep cleaned and brought in new staff or might not be able to afford to close and are changing their arm. You could contact the HSA but I dunno how much satisfaction they'd give you really. I'd say they're only for show.

Presser is now if anyone is interested.

47 in hospital, down from 50
    That's good news.

The number of healthcare workers largely reflects community transmission I think.

Prof Nolan - Community transmission remains stable. Majority of cases are being linked to contacts

3 deaths? Where are these coming from? I know there can be a delay but still
Also are these people who were confirmed to have had covid or presumed to have had covid. I'm still surprised that without a confirmed test that someone who died could be counted as a covid death

Very stable in most counties. Dublin clearly the problem area. Some restrictions probably likely their

More that the elderly are minding themselves

    It's weakening?

    No.

    Google ‘viral load’.

The precautions we’re taking, masks, hand washing etc. means that people are exposed to less of an initial ‘hit’ of the virus so the body can fight it more easily.

Suggestions today restrictions would only be to not mix in household settings but not at that stage yet.

Advertising campaign on reducing contacts, masks etc starting in both counties today

This is what doctors all over the world have been saying for a couple of months now. There must be something to it.

    This is great news

Would be great to think it's mutated to less dangerous.

All colds and flus do this eventually.

No Limerick cases today unusually as NPHET are worried about them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,801 ✭✭✭✭ACitizenErased

On a nationwide scale the 25 counties minus Dublin are stable.

Dublin growing more quickly in Dublin, increasing by 5% per day.

“Increasing cases in Dublin is driving increasing cases nationally”

This is very true, I know of one outbreak in the West that was traced back to a person that had travelled from Dublin for a "social gathering". It wasn't a bunch of twenty year olds either.

What Nolan said was that it’s less severe because younger people are getting it

All 4 deaths in last 2 days are from recent times

Basically telling Dublin and Limerick reduce your contacts without giving restrictions at the moment

    Time to lockdown Dublin.

We continue to see a concerning pattern of cases, particularly in Dublin. Transmission is diffuse across the county, is in all age groups and is mainly being driven by social interaction within and between households.”

Professor Philip Nolan, Chair of the NPHET Irish Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group, said; “While the reproduction number for Ireland as a whole is close to 1.0, the reproduction number for Dublin alone is approximately 1.4. We are seeing increasing case numbers in Dublin, growing close to 5% per day. If this were to continue, the number of cases would double every 14 days. Given the size of Dublin’s population it is essential we prevent any further spread now – by limiting our social contacts and taking precautions during any essential contacts.”

Nolan never said this before. Has always told it as it is from the start.

54 schools out of 4000 have had cases. Most acquired outside of school, none have outbreak declared.

Some days the lack of cases in certain counties is purely due to non reporting of cases. Dublin has had days with no cases reported but has not had a single day that has not had a positive swab by sample date.

Seem to be taking the advertising route first and telling people to reduce their contacts.

As per reports today it wouldn't be anything like Kildare restrictions if they recommend. Sources to todays papers saying more along the lines of Glasgow, simply telling people not to mix in houses

Hopefully other counties will be restricted from visiting Dublin.

The government needs to cancel December 8th.
