Tbh I doubt there's any oversight of that stuff. The only times I've heard about businesses closing it was as a precaution or for cleaning, and those were the ones that made the paper. The contract tracing app might help notify people who were in the cafe who are close contacts but even then, if a waitress tests positive they'd have to have been standing still for fifteen minutes within two metres of a customer to be regarded as a close contact which is unlikely to happen that way. It doesn't mean nobody has been infected, it just means the procedures in place are flaky.

Course it suits the whole situation that nobody is apparently getting it while they're paying premium prices to sit and eat somewhere. There will be casualties of the economy, it's just up to individuals to decide if they want it to be them.

It's a barbers not a cafe so very close customer contact.

Fair enough. I've only heard it from this POV which I feel tells a balanced story.

Point being; it highlights that we need to mindful that cases are going up & the numbers that really matter (death/complications/loading/economic indicators).

I'm advocating for common sense: Masks in public/ hand washing / distancing / ban very large gatherings / intervention in high risk communities (Roma communities/Direct Provision/migrant worker lodging/workplaces).

Why do people continue to take opinions such as his and rate it higher than people who have spent years working in the relevant field?

Academics argue southern states of U.S. along with South America countries have a wider curve than us due to climate/seasonality.

New York is similar to Europe in terms of climate and seasons hence they had like all of Europe a bell shape curve. Short shock over serveral months.

Usually there's large exceptions to these theories, the climate shard by Europe and New York also correlates with these places having the strictest lockdowns in the world which is the more likely reason we thw outbreaks ended quickly. Russia's outbreak is still going strong since April and shares similar or colder climate as these places , for example

Obviously. But if you can take it, you’re protecting those who cannot.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post so admin can move if they want. I've had a headcold since yesterday, nothing major I'm not 'sick' no cough but have just got a random metallic taste in my mouth. Did anyone who tested positive here have a metallic taste?

    "The Rule of 6"
    Enforced by the police.
"Covid secure venues can hold more than 6 but groups within those settings cannot be more than 6 and can't mix"
Fvcking crap. Hope we don't do something similar.

These measures just limit contagion when it occurs as opposed to preventing it.

Why was 6 afraid of 7?
    Because 7 spreads Corona.

If you haven't done so already contact your doctor, a Covid consultation is free as is the test if you are referred for one.
Genuinely I wouldn't suggest asking here what your symptoms may or may not be.

Disagree completely. Russia is vast. Similar to USA. Rising and falling in different regions. Too large in geography and climates to see overall trends.

Should not be allowed any media attention.
Between Gerry Killeen and Tomas Ryan they certainly love the media attention. The media can surely find some new voices than the same tiresome attention seeking routine those guys are playing.

Local GP from my area of the country.Everytime they get a case referred they are tweeting details of it. Then off to local radio station. Then on to national radio and if they are lucky on to prime time. They do grate me as some of them are just loving the media attention. On the plus side I know where all the cases are occuring as they hold nothing back.

It seems the media is only interested in talking to the zero Covid advocates or these are the only academics/scientists seeking personal publicity.

I can understand my GP's might be very worried. They have a more real perspective on it than most on this forum.

Seems like nowhere manages to escape an outbreak in the US..new hotspots emerging in the midwest now which has largely escaped outbreaks until now. With highest positivity rates being reported in Iowa, the Dakotas, Kansas and Missouri.

USA is now projected to hit over 400,000 deaths by new years..pretty shocking number really. Sounds absolutely massive..but I don't know how correct it will be USA would have to average 1700 deaths everyday between now and January to hit that number. Unless they are expecting a very large secondary waves in the winter this seems unlikely.

It's just a projection though, in reality the US isn't even in the top 5 per capita in the world for covid deaths. In fact they are only 10th.

Still bad but you'd swear they where miles ahead of everyone else listening to the media

Yes. Some people have medical conditions which mean that they should not take the vaccine as it can lead to adverse reactions. It will be the same with the Covid 19 vaccine when it comes. So everyone should not take it.

If Dublin cases continue to rise, pubs there may remain closed
