We should start a petition to get it re-opened!

I guess by opening applications it means they most likely aren’t going to change the dates as one of the options the petition says 😂

    Mine says 21st

I don't know what to tell you then as when I clicked in to start the application there was a note on the top of the page that said the 28th, the FE1 page where you click onto the application said 21st. If this is different on yours there is obviously an error somewhere, I can only tell you what I have read.

May just be the way the pages loaded. Exam results are out the 28th

"This form is not available to you" is the error I'm getting now. "Email if you believe you should have access to the application". Sigh.

I clicked on the little red question mark on the bottom right hand side of the main page and sent an email off, they got straight back to me.

    Hi!

Any one here have a criminal exam grid? Could a kind soul shoot it on over to me. It'd be massively appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Hi all,

The October 2020 application form is now open, it will list your respective remaining subjects, in my case that's three, and includes Tort, which I had sat in August. I think for many of us, a decision will have to be made whether to focus on other subjects for the October sitting, (in the hope you pass the August sitting), the alternative is to keep studying for a subject you may have passed, which inevitably, will be a determent to your study for other subjects. Its essentially a gamble. I cannot understand, how the law society think that such a situation is acceptable, potentially you could fail the August sitting, apply to sit the October sitting, and then pass on a recheck from August, even though you've sat the October exam. Its an absolute mess!

You cannot expect students, on one weeks notice (Tort), or 2.5 weeks notice (EU) in exam week to adapt, these are professional exams as we all know, and the law society itself is showing very little respect for that.

What are peoples general conscientious? Is it worth applying again now for an exam you may have passed in August?, or concentrate on other subjects, I find the lack of certainty difficult, and, just hope that some common sense can enter the building at Blackhall place, and that the law society acknowledge the difficulties that have arisen. For clarification, I'm not an advocate for the changing of October exam dates, however an extra sitting for Tort and EU in my opinion is the only amicable solution. I hope the study is going well for you all!

    :)

The same happened for me a few times. I exited out of the application and then tried again and it worked for me.

I sat tort in August having applied to do it in March. I won’t be applying to sit it in October I’ve resigned myself to just leaving it till next March if I have failed. I don’t have time to add it in now and I haven’t looked at it since the start of August and now really need to just focus on the ones I know I’m doing in October!!

I sat tort in August but didn’t think it went well so will be applying to sit in October. If by some miracle I passed, I guess I will see if they’ll give me a refund???

    PPC application

"Where the training solicitor already has two trainee solicitors, the a practising solicitor may, with the consent of the Society’s Education Committee, have an additional trainee solicitor for every two assistant solicitors in his/her employment or in the employment of his/her firm at the date of the registration with the Society of each applicable training contract".

Can anyone shed light on how to obtain the consent of the Society’s Education Committee in such an instance? Doesn't appear to be a form anywhere in the application pack.

I sat it the last go and unfortunately was just short the pass. I remember Interputation did not come up so I am studying that as it is due. The President and the Attorney general due to come up. I remember there was no specific question regarding equality and Religion so maybe worth covering. Property rights important to cover. There is always a question it goes like such and such legislation is being introduced....you just think of what topic may fit into it...know locus standi can you challenge the constitutionality of it and the separation of powers is the arm of government going beyond it's function. He is actually a sound marker I found. Use you constitution in exam and with Constitution you can say I would argue that property rights are infringed etc etc and pick out what you think fits if you get what I mean from the exam questions. Do not panic. If I was a gambler I would definitely do interpretation, and president/attorney general and have them off. Then three more questions, I would try learn as much as I can the rights and seperation of powers (keep it simple), constitutionality, are not too bad if you have the nutshell you may find them useful. Keep the faith.

    Thank you for sharing this!

By any chance can you remember if Liberty came up in the last sitting?
I believe there have been a few recent cases in that area, and could be topical with the lockdown

I think it came up as a part B maybe someone here can clarify was it right to silence or unconstitutionally obtained evidence...something I just can't remember...It is a common topic though.
Family came up I was unprepared but he generously gave me marks for what I did know. I nearly passed and used nutshell mostly and had one crap question. I used a bit of Griffith notes but it was too much to learn so I just pulled a few extra cases from them.
Referendum never came up which is an easy topic!

Yes, I got that as my 2nd error message. Now it says "You are not allowed to access this page" which is concerning as I cannot get a reply off their email.

I'm having same issue; got a reply from them this morning:

"Thank you for your message. We are aware of the issue and will contact you when it has been resolved."

    But so far, still nothing...

A subject that I passed before they got rid of the magic 3 rule and subsequently was granted approval to allow it to count and carry forward is listed as an option to sit on my application form. Did this happen to anyone else?
