    Hi guys,

Has anyone who passed their final exams this week and is beginning Blackhall next week received confirmation that they are registered?

I am due to start next week and haven’t got confirmation and my student ID is also not listed on the core group timetable. Wondering if people are in the situation also

I passed my examinations last March and I am still waiting for a confirmation email that I am registered. I can’t select the iPad until I get their email. I wonder If I don’t get it by tomorrow will I be allowed to get in to the induction day on Tuesday?

They’re not offering iPad upgrades for people who missed the deadline. I missed it because I had to sit tort!

Oh no that’s a shame I was gonna get an upgrade. I really hope to hear from them tomorrow if I don’t should I still go to the induction day? Do they usually take long to get back to people after sending the registration forms?

Hey folks. Does anyone have sample answers for Contract other than the Griffith college ones. I have them at the moment and theyr pretty weak. I have a ton of good notes/sample answers for Tort, EU, Contract, Cons, Property and Equity that I can swap.

I've seen a few people asking about where to get legislation. The Sales of Goods Act 1893 and the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980 (for contract), The Succession Act 1965 and the Land and Conveyancing Law Reform Act 2009 (for property) and copies of the Constitution are available from the Government Publications Office. They're currently running a skeleton staff in the call centre due to Covid, but you can email them at publications@ opw. ie . I think the acts are around €5 each.

I think the Companies Act 2014, Companies (Accounting) Act 2017, Companies (Amendment) Act 2017 and the Companies (Statutory Audits) Act 2018 are available as well.

If not, you're also allowed take in Bloomsbury Professional’s Companies Act 2014. Make sure you get the paperback, not the Ebook if ordering off the website. It's €105 including postage, but the discount code STUDENT knocks about 20% off the price.

    Hi All

I have read through the last week of comments regarding the petition and peoples suggestions. Another suggestion would be to schedule Tort and Eu at the end of the timetable so it doesn't disturb it hugely for those not happy to push the entire thing back to November, but also gives people more time.

Currently Tort is first to run and Eu is at the end why not put them on the 16th and for example the 19th surely that is ample time.

Yes, that would be another option. However, I think the issue with that is that if people are also sitting other exams in the October sitting, they still won't have time to prepare after only getting results on the 28th, because the actual weeks that exams are on would be taken up by sitting other exams and doing the last bits of study for those other subjects too.
To prepare for Tort/ EU after not having looked at the material for two months would take up the entire period between the results and the October exams which unfortunately is time that we will need for our other subjects too.

Can't believe that they put tort first on the timetable in the first place:confused:

Edit: I think another issue is that candidates should have a right to view their scripts and apply for a recheck, if appropriate, before having to repeat the exam, as grades do very often go up at the recheck stage. And generally it does take the LS a few weeks to email on copies of the scripts.

Yes there is that but yes there would be no avoiding you would have to read the notes beforehand to get refreshed as being left with little time. I would rather this than no option at all i.e. it being the first exam on the timetable (who actually comes up with these genius ideas in there)

It’s the easiest one by a mile, you can pretty much cover the whole course in the time it’d take you to partially cover another

What should I cover for company? After just sitting tort with it’s 20 topics I’m feeling like there’s not a huge amount for company but think I’m being lured by a false sense of security!

Also any tips for equity appreciated as I failed pretty brutally in March and gonna go again this round :/

Ah here lads as rubbish a feeling it is, if ye fail the exam just resit it in March. What's the rush? Postponing all 8 exams just for a few people that failed is ridiculous.

Do ye not think of how that'll mess things up delaying the inevitable with 1. the virus and 2. people doing the hybrid. Like sorry but a solid 80% of people who signed this petition will end up passing and will not care less about delaying the Oct sitting. It's very self centered to not even consider those who start in December for the hybrid. It's reckless and simply asking for trouble with the coronavirus (we should be grateful we can sit them at all physically in October please god. lets not tempt fate). Another point is a lot of people will have rightly made arrangements to get time off work, booked hotels and train tickets for the October exams. Obviously some people will have waited, like myself, to see where the venue is etc. Either way I've had to book time off and g'luck getting it moved to Novemeber for me.

If ya get 40%+ then just submit it for a recheck, forget about it, and focus on the exams you're planning to sit the following week. If ya got less than 40% then you obviously didn't do enough work to pass it and you'll need more than a month between the 28th of Sep and this imaginary November sitting to raise your grade by 11 marks more in order to pass. Altogether there is no harm just sitting it in March if you fail, you'll have a hell of a lot more time to see where you went wrong and how to get your grade up by that amount.

If that doesn't resonate with you then think about how messy this has all been ever since March because one exam was delayed. ONE. Lets not even entertain postponing EIGHT exams. Next thing you'll know the very same people will be moaning about how long these results are taking. They certainly won't have it done in time for Xmas. Most likely it would end up being January when you find out - and we do this all over again but much worse because it's all 8 exams instead of 1.

I'm covering the following for property.

    - Finding (one in the back pocket)
    - Co-ownership (comes up nearly every sitting)
    - Adverse Possession (comes up nearly every sitting)
    - Licenses & Proprietory Estoppel (comes up a lot)
    - Mortgages (one for the backpocket aswell)
    - Easements (comes up a lot)
    - Succession Law (guaranteed 2 Qs)

Should be well enough to answer 5 with those I think.
