Thursday nearly here. I can't wait. My camera will be out filming the chaos at the school gate. It will be gold in fifty years.
Norma Foley sacked in a couple of weeks.
Met Eireann should issue a red warning for Thursday.

Em, what exactly do you hope to capture and achieve here?

Contact Jim Corr. He will understand you.

Show me any other country where they've mandated
mask for secondary school students. It's complete madness to expect students to use them as if they were in a labatory setting. Now teachers are calling for over 6's to wear one, it's a bonkers and will end in tears.

NPHET really need to be fact checked as there is no evidence outside of a Labrador setting it's a good idea, it's actually a bad idea.

It ain't teachers calling for over 6's to wear masks.
    It's the World Health Organisation.

Of course teachers will get the blame.

Whatever about secondary schools but a 6 year old wearing mask from 9 to 2. Hard enough to get them to put on their jacket. Some crack if that happens.

My 4 year olds wear masks when we go shopping and it’s no big deal, but yes as a parent you have to put the effort in to get them used to wearing them. It’s not impossible and kids tend to copy each other so if the class is wearing them it’ll be easier.

It's crazy that all teachers won't be tested before going back.

    Bad decision from Norma.

An asymptomatic teacher could bring down an entire school.

Kids can’t vote so who cares....... I think this is what it really boils down to.

But the child is not shopping from 9-2 . It is very difficult to wear a mask all day long for anyone but for a young child it would cause more problems than they are worth . Kids handling them , swapping them and throwing them about

I don't think it even boils down to that, education didnt feature as a topic in the election so they reckon they are safe enough giving it minimal attention.

The fact they went about hiring hotels as drop down hospitals but told schools to exhaust all avenues before they would consider such an option. Then the school the other day tried to hire the parish hall for 50,000e per year after being told by Dept hotline to do the best ye can, after failing to meet sd measures, and could only get help from the Dept after going to RTE about it speaks volumes.

No granted not 9 to 2 but would be a few hours on the go. Once they’re on, they’re fine. I’m just saying it’s not impossible, for people who think it is.

I presume you will be taking pictures of the pencil cases you find so objectionable.
Taking pictures of other people’s children really isn’t advisable.

Since when do 4yr olds have to wear masks, how are you not seeing the dangers, you should not be masking your child. How many 4yr olds can wipe their ass properly let alone put on, wear and dispose of mask in a clinical manner.

No 4 to 18yr old will touch the front of their mask, are you dilousional? The adults can't even use them correctly going in and out of a shop.
Your bonkers if you think they'll be used correctly. If there not being used correctly you should not be going anywhere near them.

There is no more a danger than not having a mask on them.

    But parents can!

Surely it made sense to atleast test the teacher who could infect the entire class.

    Let's look at this way:
    - without the mask how many times a hour will a 4 year old put their fingers in their mouths, pick their nose etc?

    - once the mask is on, the teacher can help once hers is on and hands cleaned. The risk becomes alot less.

What's the risk to begin with? What reduction in that risk are you expecting? If your going to mandate something it needs to be evidence based and have a clear outcome.
From what little data we have on real world masking it prevents 4 out of 200,000 infections, if those 200,000 wear a mask for a week.
Who's going to be checking masks are going to be washed safely every night, are fitted correctly, are of the proper material to prevent covid? Are teachers going to be doing this?

Concentrate on controllable measures, like proper hand washing after using the toilets, before eating, physical contact. Open the windows, turn up the heating.
I know our school says we have to check their tempature before they go to school. Implement proper clear measures people can follow and the risk will be minimal.

How did she get elected let alone be given a ministry?

She said "in the first instance" 26 times.

Pawned everything off on Public Health and just restarted her script every time she was asked a question.

Great to welcome back kids in the first instance.

Absolute hyper waffle, no wonder she has been playing Where's Wally in expert mode.

The stand out alarm for me was when a child develops symptoms, no action is taken until they get the results of the test.

Over the next couple of months you are looking at a significant delay in turn around times, could be a full school week at least before the class is notified that it had a child with Covid.

    That won't end well.

It needs to be addressed, the minster of education copped out last night, it's a NPHET decision, were only following the advice she said. Their advice has not been fact checked it was a knee jerk reaction to a screaming media..
