If its just the lift pump in the tank its a handy enough fix but it'll be difficult detect any other potential faults until you get that changed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,679 ✭✭✭✭wonski

Engine running well is my priority.

If it isn't and the seller claims fuel pump, he should do it before sale.

Or price accordingly, it's worth nothing not running no matter what the seller says.... scrap or parts.

This is one car I am not familiar with from a reliability point of view but looks a decent car
    2008 1.7CDTI Opel Astra
165k miles and same owner since 2011
    NCT until middle of December
Taxed until end of January 2021
    Cheap tax (280 p.a)
    Asking €1600

i believe its a izzuzu diesel unit which is fairly bombproof, decent poke, good mpg, definatley have that over the petrol.

Just noticed it is 250 euro, but note to the buyer if you have that little to spend now buy a car with running engine even if the nct is short. Or even very short.

Just something that drives ok. This will give you a time to put funds together and either change, or keep it depending on cost.

A "slammed" S Class V6 with the "usual Mercedes rust" for 550 euro with NCT to November 20.

"Slammed on factory air suspension" is the new "factory air suspension doesnt work anymore"

Ditto "can be fixed in 2 minutes" (lol!) and "can be fixed with €2k"

The ad is fairly poor, reg can be seen on the NCT Cert. all checks out. No mention of belt being done. Would need to factor in a change

These are supposed to be fairly reliable compared with the 1.8, thoughts?

7 previous owners and a change of ownership last month. I'd be asking questions...

Failed nct, sold at bargain price, fixed up by someone clever/handy enough to fix it and put back on the market I think, given the two mileage readings in last two months on the nct cert.

Did very, very little mileage in last 4 years so obviously need to be checked, but wouldn't write it off.

The height it's sitting at he might have gotten a fright when it was on a ramp and took the pics not long after.

Stick the reg in there and it tells you when the car was last sold as well.

the NCT says it's a 2008 model but the car in the pictures has the front bumper off a facelifted model from 2011 onwards...... The reg in the pictures looks to be 13.... under the XXXXXX's

    Yeah it seems dodgy.

Also why was the NCT done twice over the space of about a monthl, I wonder was it to hide mileage.

Now I can see that. Wasn't really looking that closely.

Definitely something looks off in this ad.

Would a failed and not retested on time car that subsequently passed a month later have mileage from both tests recorded on the cert?

Because I can't see a reason to do test twice in such a short space of time tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,308 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

They were late testing it and only got a month left so probably sent it through again for a full years NCT for when they went to sell it.

The seller of the 08MO Mondeo in Limerick stole pics from the below 132KE Mondeo in Kildare.

For whatever reason, it appears very dodgy!
