08 1.6 Kia Ceed Diesel. One owner for the last 12 years. Less than 100K mileage. Tax until December. NCT until next February.
No interior pics and a bit of a scrape over the right rear wheel arch.

I've no idea about these tbh. Are they good, bad or indifferent?

    They’re really good.

Wasn't that sold by a boardsie a few weeks ago for €500?

Looks like the beginning of the end for it now with the Katanas.

Different car. This is the one that was asking €350:

The 98 one is certainly no bargain.

The only thing going for it is that they’re rare now. They’re a poor mans Corolla and should be priced accordingly.

Would there be much of a difference in reliability between the 1.4 petrol and 1.7 diesel for the Opel Astras?

    The diesel engine were good.

The petrols have an extremely short belt interval less then 40k miles if I recall.

Lads, I'm looking a handy money motor, and have come across a MK1 octy, that apparently just needs a fuel pump.

Any comments? I know they're treated as godly, but anything to keep an eye for?

    Petrol or diesel....

Like anything they'll need maintenance and there could well be any number of issues but honestly they're a brilliant but basic machine....

Unless it's like STUPID cheap, there are tons of them to choose from, so if it was me, I'd be picking one without any issues
What year or what kind of money are you looking at spending?
Generally speaking, if they are looked after and serviced, they will do huge mileage.
I believe somebody linked to one here recently with around half a million kms on it and it's still working away

Any thoughts on this I am thinking of taking a look at her the mileage is low for its age and a nice bit of nct on her.

An 04 diesel, test til January (actual test, not covid extension) for 250 bills, and it's 10 minutes away from me.

My 07 fiesta diesel **** the bed with injectors, and a new engine is similar money.

Just not in a position to spend big bucks (or even bangernomics limit) at the moment.

If its just the lift pump in the tank its a handy enough fix but it'll be difficult detect any other potential faults until you get that changed.

Engine running well is my priority.

If it isn't and the seller claims fuel pump, he should do it before sale.

Or price accordingly, it's worth nothing not running no matter what the seller says.... scrap or parts.

Just noticed it is 250 euro, but note to the buyer if you have that little to spend now buy a car with running engine even if the nct is short. Or even very short.

Just something that drives ok. This will give you a time to put funds together and either change, or keep it depending on cost.

"Slammed on factory air suspension" is the new "factory air suspension doesnt work anymore"

Ditto "can be fixed in 2 minutes" (lol!) and "can be fixed with €2k"

The ad is fairly poor, reg can be seen on the NCT Cert. all checks out. No mention of belt being done. Would need to factor in a change

These are supposed to be fairly reliable compared with the 1.8, thoughts?

7 previous owners and a change of ownership last month. I'd be asking questions...
