Are you trying to be a smart arse or what?
You never seen banging limbs at a GAA match?

What is banging limbs and is it peculiar to GAA matches? Any reports of 1000 plus at a match. I've been stuck to watching them on TV as a ticket is like gold dust.

Not a one, that I know of, just players allowed to play it is all.
They must go kitted out, play the game, up to 40 players per game.
But you haven't a clue about it at all have you so no point in talking to clueless smart arse.

    Yes, crazy isn't it.

Not really. Do what you’re allowed and don’t do what you’re not.

I'm clueless? You are the one spouting sh1te aboitb1000+ supporters and now change it to 40 players when questioned about it. I know that I can't go to my club matches because I can't get a ticket. Nor can my father.

    Never mentioned supporters.

They've no pub licence and never had, operating under a restaurant licence but styling themselves as a pub/club.

Terrible but I do feel a bit sorry for those young people who are very recognisable in the video....bet they woke up to a torrent of abuse on social media today.
On the other hand, that idiotic barman throwing the bottle about deserves to have the book thrown at him.

Must have been more there than I thought, although I thought they'd all be giving it 4 or 5 star reviews.....

Good, I suppose now there might be some recognition of it being the least important of any measure a pub adopts.

I doubt many of the punters had the legal definition of what a substantial meal is, which a judge would have 100% agreed with.

There are plenty of other measures pubs are being asked to do which I would ditch before the meal. There is good reason why other countries have similar laws/rules/requests in place.

If you still do not get it ask your mammy or a dog on the street about the phrase "eating is cheating", this feigned ignorance is fcuking pathetic. People thinking they are smart by appearing to be complete morons.

Ah here, pure conjecture. You have no idea what they had, and to be honest even if they all had a pizza thats not going to stop them going up to the bar to have tequila if it's being poured into their mouths. And if you can't see that then we probably need to have a discussion about who really is guilty of ignorance here.

If others are doing it and the staff are encouraging it, of course they're going to do it. What it comes down to is ultimately the staff and management ensuring conduct is controlled to create a safe environment for all. Anyone who doesn't should be removed, they most certainly should not be encouraging scenes like last night and they are entirely responsible for that.

And the response should be that they are closed as a result. Also would you stop with this inane "eating is cheating" nonsense. Your embarrassing yourself with that teenage mantra.

That is the perfect example of why 'eating is cheating' is absolutely bullsh*t.
The non food serving pubs must be raging. They are not even being given a chance to ensure guidelines are adhered to, and watching restaurants acting like pubs were before the lockdown.
Hopefully there are serious repercussions to the owners of that place.
€9 sandwich will not stop morons acting like morons.
Open them all or close them all.
If open, they should all be monitored properly, any veering from the guidelines should be fines.

It was a baked potato in this specific case.

Requirement is to be in the form of a lunch or the main course of a dinner. A dressed baked potato could arguably be a lunch I'd guess.

But it still made no difference.
The 'must serve food' rule doesn't mean anything. This proves it.
The owner, staff and clientele are going to be the deciding factor in how the place acts or behaves during lockdown.
A pub that doesn't serve food, in a remote area with a small clientele legally can't open because they don't serve food, yet they would be far more responsible than most or all of the pubs serving food in any busy area that I have seen videos of.
My locals are apparently allowing people in, no time limit and not even enforcing the food rule.
One barman told a customer that he had to give him the menu, but he didn't have to order anything.
Another bar said that their kitchen was closed, but if they wanted, they could make a toasted sandwich. To which they replied that they would think about it, and just drank instead (for more than 105 minutes).
These stupid lobsided laws and half attempts at stopping anything will achieve very little.

You know what, there will and are many places skirting around the edges of this.

But social life in a City is always going to go on no matter what. I'm a bit older now and wouldn't enjoy anything like that anymore, but did in my youth to be fair.

    So what is the solution?

Yes, true, but I don't get why serving food should make the slightest bit of difference either way.
I was using two extremes there (rural and city), but there are pubs that are less likely to behave like that in built up areas too.
There are probably no full solutions other than full closure, but plenty that could be preventative measures.
Instead of hiring bouncers, as they are less likely to need them now with 105 minutes being the amount of time anyone can stay there, they could be responsible for paying a board appointed monitor or something similar.
Two people to walk around the pub ensuring guidelines are being met. Or many other options I haven't thought of. The current one is probably the worst imo.

If I owned a non food pub and had spent thousands preparing it to meet standards for social distancing etc.. and then saw this lot hanging off bars no partitions etc - in a restaurant, I would be livid.

The only reason people are giving out about the Berlin party is that people were having a laugh in a pub on a Saturday night, heaven forbid.

Pubs will be fully open one week after the schools go back. If you haven't worked out why yet you need to go back to school.

The short video we saw looked bad. But if it's true that staff are receiving death threats (even if bravado messages) it's ****ing disgusting. Reading the reviews on Facebook is the most bizarre thing I've seen in a while. If there's wrongdoing of course appropriate sanctions should happen. But people really need to look at themselves if they are sending vitriol directly or even indirectly.

Hopefully but another lockdown or more restrictions could be on there way with nphet being so worried about the rise in cases the last few weeks

Italy is shutting down nightclubs again due to rising cases among young people and in anticipation of school’s opening. Unfortunately here non food pubs and nightclubs appear to have been lumped in together.

Postering and the media clinging on to anything for clicks. The increase are due to all the testing carried out in factories and clusters. Shag all people in hospital or ICU. The UK are slowly reopening sports venues this week.

As soon as the schools go back the gubbermint will have an excuse for any spikes after the pubs reopen. All part of the long term plan for August/ September, don't forget the TD's are on their hols and the Dáil is closed for business. The last thing they want is anything getting in the way of their time off, no chance they were letting boozers open this month.

I have seen conflicting information on the exact licence Berlin have. A poster here gave very informative information that they have a theatre /performance licence but others have said a restaurant licence. If its the latter then pubs (food or not) should not be the scapegoat. From the few pubs I have been that served food they have been very strict. I went to a bar on Friday night and someone from the next table kept coming over. Barstaff came over and gave a warning. He was asked to leave when he repeated 10 minutes later.

One thing I hope doesn't happen is a divide between rural and urban. I see it creeping in to stories.

I definitely agree with large venues that are more akin to a club but selling food. If music is pumping and space for dancing then I don't think it's appropriate. Actually I am so conflicted on this. My cousin hasn't been able to open his pub in a rural village. He is suffering.

I believe they have both, the resteraunt license means they can open during the day without a dj, the theatre licence means they can open late without having to keep a kitchen open....

It is interesting that a couple of months ago loads of people were saying that the government were in bed with the vintners and will do anything to open pubs. Now they will do anything to keep them closed. From an economic point of view it makes more sense to keep schools closed and open up bars clubs hotels etc fully. Vat is received. Tax from wages received. People off the Covid payment etc.

Tds aren't on holidays. Clinics are open. Dail is closed but government are there. Listen I don't have any love for FF/FG but hopefully they will be able to make appropriate decisions based on up to date medical data.
