Why stop there, no digital cert or no "bracelet" as the other poster suggested = no entry into shops, no entry to restaurants, no entry into pubs. Shur make it: No bracelet = no job, no travel, no medical treatment etc.

    You're enslaving yourselves. Wake up.

I think that's going a bit far, but I'm willing to give your ideas a try

Of course you are. You're utterly brainwashed by gov and media. The same way the people of Germany were back in the 30's/40's who were more than willing to do the atrocities they committed then.

I will take my chances for at least 3 years after a vaccine is released before considering taking it.

Sorry it's probably the wrong thread in fairness. Just don't assume everyone will be willing to take a vaccine. I would say at least half the people I talk to will absolutely refuse one, unless of course the government go full tyrannical.

I'll leave it at that. Pub thread.
Maybe heed your own advice before derailing this thread...:pac:

My evil bracelet idea is really more reminiscent of the middle east 2000 years ago. It's like the opposite of a lepper bell.

Maybe you'd prefer to have to carry a bell instead?

I think that a one size fits all approach is probably incorrect. If a pub is able to pass an individual safety assessment that demonstrated that they are capable of providing a safe environment coupled with a contract with the licensee that if there are material breaches there is significant sanctions personally, they could open.

You're not comparing forcing people to get a vaccine to the atrocities committed by the Nazis, are you? That would just be ridiculous, so surely that's not it.

My plan envisages nobody being forced to do anything. You don't have to wear the bracelet.

You just can't get into the pub without one.

To some people, if you suggest anything that might go against their ideas of "liberty", then it's Nazi Germany all over again.

Denying entry to a pub based on their likelihood to have Covid = Nazis!

Denying entry to a pub based on whether they're wearing the correct shoes or if it's "Regulars only mate" - Completely different and fine!

I think they are going to shut the pub restaurants tomorrow

Even discussing no vaccine no entry is playing into the anti vaxers hands. Look at the amount of resistance to wearing a mask and amplify that by a million. In any case seeing how relatively easy it is to get a religion recognised (Google pastafarian) and once recognised with a prerequisite of not being vaccinated, anyone signed up couldn't be discriminated against under equality legislation on religious grounds.

The amount of people who have said to me that they will not get a vaccine is considerable.

Has there been any official source for this. I had a feeling last week that this was on the cards.

They’re discussing extending opening til midnight. Hardly the actions of a group look to re-close them.

They could issue the vaccinated with some sort of certification. Perhaps something like a bracelet.

And if you don't have a bracelet, you're not allowed in the pub/restaurant/whatever.

Hopefully it won't come to that as you'd hope there isn't that many utter morons out there

mmm sounds vaguely familiar....perhaps a yellow star on the braclet worn on thier clothes....

Instead of whinging, why don't publicans who never served substantial meals take legal advice?

If they took a court case and won (and yes, I know it's a hypothesis with a very long shot!) then what people think wouldn't matter because there'd still be enough people wanting to visit to have a few pints.

I think if this was an option it would have happened already. The like of Louis Fitzgerald and the vintners association have endless cash and lawyers.

Thanks for explaining the point I was making. It seems to have gone over the heads of many here.

It’s coming from the average joe who thinks “bracelets”, the modern day equivalent of the yellow star are the way to go. Not the government saying this, the people. Which will tell you how well the propaganda machine is working.

Theres no point anti-vaxxers are just anti-education and/or science and so will always find an excuse to stand out.

Unless you try reverse psychology they wont change. Thankfully most Irish aren't anti-vax so thats as good as it can get if those who are intelligent and understand reality do take the vaccine.

Who’s anti vax? I’m anti government FORCING me to take a vaccine I do not want. There’s a huge difference there.

How can I be anti vax towards a vaccine that doesn’t even exist?

Really can't understand how pubs food or non food got closed but off licenses were allowed to remain open.

    No, I can't.
If the thinking was that alcohol was detrimental then surely ban the sale of alcohol like South Africa did.
The purchase of alcohol in off licenses allowed the house parties to happen.

The human need for social interaction caused the house parties to happen. The problem is densely packed pubs with poor ventilation are a very good place for spreading this virus. Multiple countries far more organised and advanced than us have tried and failed to reopen nightclubs long term.
