Serious question, with airborne transmission, where is the best place to change a mask?. Are you not just whipping out a clean mask into dirty indoor air?

If you cannot go outside to the open air, probably a plane or a surgery with HEPA filters and rapid air replacement.

These masks https://www.etsy.com/ie/listing/840871235/serious-filtered-mask-3d-printed-with-20?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=hepa+mask&ref=sc_gallery-1-8&plkey=3b0c59e2f3f15b86f1896a2b452ae1556af34f45:840871235&col=1 have hepa filters and could be an option. But note that they are not certified medical grade - they do look formidable though.

Masks help stop the spread “IF” you are infected. If you aren’t infected they are absolutely pointless.

It's mid-August. This post might have gotten a pass in February or March, but by now, there's no excuse for how stupid it is.

Can you spread asymptomatically if you don’t have the virus?? No. So the mask is pointless.

They help to stop you getting it. Explain to us how that is pointless.

You are wasting your time trying to reason with some....

I've got a poor fool in work who also believes masks are pointless...steals his oxygen and makes his immune system weak..... its only a flue.... vaccines are trying to sterilise you....
and believes its all a media ploy to take attention away from Hillary Clinton and Hollywood running a child sex trafficking ring....

You won't convince them they are wrong, reason doesn't exist...

A lot of news starting to pop up about masks causing an increase of bacteria growth caused by prolonged mask wearing drying out peoples mouths and causing bacteria growth, leading to stinky breath and an increase of gum disease which left unchecked will lead to strokes and heart. Some dental pratices are seeing 50% of patients presenting with the new meth mouth.

Oh Jesus I just realised all the anti-maskers are going to turn into anti-vaxxers.

weldoninhio, would you like to grace us with a glimpse of that future? Why are Covid-19 vaccines bad? Pointless? etc. Hit us with it so we know what sort of relentless shlte we should be expecting.

I thought of this a few days ago. I'm assuming that once mask is removed is it being placed in a non-sterile environment, like hand bags, pockets etc.

I know people are using the same mask over and over again and surely this is causing them to inhale unhealthy bacteria. Interesting.

Another thing to add to the dooms day list.

Looking forward tot he autumn, when the double dip recession occurs and budget announced and be told by the muppets be grateful you are still alive while taxes go through the roof

Why do you care so much about people who mean nothing to you and whose opinions you clearly despise? Some reactions are extreme and nutty on both sides but he is right in the sense that if you put a bunch of people into a COVID filled room their masks are unlikely to help them.

Can guarantee that if the government advice was to not wear a mask, or the virus cokldnt be trabsmitted by sfoplets, the anti maskers would have their masks on.

And there would be less Covid in the room if everyone was wearing masks.

Or just don't go into the room and don't ascribe magical qualities to masks. Distance, not crowded nor enclosed locations trumps masks every time.

So? Drink more, use some mouth wash and use clean masks. Basically use some common sense and practice good hygiene and there is no issue?

Because theyre the idiots that prolong this stuff for everybody else (and will then complain about extra lockdowns). I know we have to tolerate obstinatly thick people but it's hard.

Your last sentence is incorrect. I'm pretty sure doctors that are wearing masks every day would disagree. The rest of us are not in Covid filled rooms so our masks on top of other precautions are sufficient.

Dentist are reporting 50% of people aren't doing that, I think the article isthatso linked to is wrong, you should be breathing through your nose not your mouth to avoid drying it out.
I know my dentist complimented me before on having a wet mouth as they see a lot of people with dry mouths.

Yep, add that to the list when you go out! It's easy to do when you're obsessed about that kind of thing, a whole lot of people are not.

    Agreed and to add further
The comical sight of people wearing a mask below their noses still makes me laugh.

Offices are that "room". Shops are that "room". If people have to work and buy groceries, masks help keep everyone safe.

Can't recall the last time I wasted energy on musings like this about random people. People will do what they do and unless it's illegal or some physical risk to others leave them be.
Your last sentence is incorrect. I'm pretty sure doctors that are wearing masks every day would disagree. The rest of us are not in Covid filled rooms so our masks on top of other precautions are sufficient.

Nope, I mean the patches of cloth we the general public use.

“We do not recommend masks, gloves or other protective measures for the general public” - Dr.Tony Holahan.

We do not recommend the use of masks for the general public as per WHO recommendations due to risks and other unintended consequences” - Dr.Tony Holahan.

“The advice we have from the WHO is to not make masks mandatory” - Simon Harris.

I’ll post the videos of all this if someone doubts me.
They didn't help the cause - that is correct. In fairness, they are idiots and should have been fired.

If we had Micheal Martin (and i don't like him) government back in April we would be in a much better place. He isn't afraid to take strict, unpopular measures, which is called leadership. We needed leadership in April.

Well on the basis of cases we've seen in such locations they really are not but I understand NPHET not wanting us to make judgements about risk levels in locations. Keeping away from people keeps everyone people a whole lot safer.

I'm surprised that didn't add in something about elderly people, children dying and "the vulnerable" just to ham it it more. Might as well throw in some anti vaxxer rubbish at the same time.

How come in south korea where wearing masks has been normal for many years that they haven't got the issues these anti-everything people talk about?

What's sad is that some people will believe everything said here

I was in the Whitewater SC a few days ago and some oldish dear was told to cover her nose and she queries with security and asks well "how am i supposed to breath"

He explained politely the virtues of wearing mask correctly and she then pulled it up.

Saw her 20 minutes later and lo and behold, were is the mask!

Older/vulnerable people should be supported and cocoon. They should be encouraged to wear masks out and about and cocoon where necessary.
    Yes.
The rest of us need to get back to normal.

Absolutely not. Defies the point above.
It's a community effort. 90+% mask compliance needed for a maximum efficacy.
