Ah will you go away, it's a piece of fabric over your mouth and nose that's been proven to limit spread. You'd swear we were being sent off to Gulags with the way some are going on about it.

The only data I've seen directly in relation to Covid says it prevents 4 cases for every 200,000 people who wear one.

    Russia man bad.

    USA man good.

You want to volunteer to take a vaccine that bypassed standard safety and efficacy trails?

Your "fall in line" lingo says it all, you're mad for any reason to shake the fist at your government. A tale as old as time.

I wonder did anyone in the past who mistrusted medieval popes, kings, Emperors etc. get asked "Why would they have any reason to lie?"

If not, I would love to know when the assumed total innocence of people in power began. Does it have a start date?

    Have a quick Google there.

We're being advised to wear them for good reason, it's not just one big laugh at our expense.

I 100% agree that government and the powers that be should always be held accountable but we're talking about mask wearing, not people being taken to the stocks.

The same lunatics giving out about wearing a mask are the same that would lose the plot at facial recognition technology.

When nearly every government in countries with reasonable democratic accountability are taking pretty much the same approach its reasonable to assume good advice has been taken, rather than some dastardly scheme to put a mask on everyone because........

Do you not think it is reasonable if nefarious motivations are being attributed to government actions on this, it is reasonable to come up with some rational explanation as to why they might do this. Otherwise in the absence of any alternative, Occams Razor would have us deduce that in general across the globe a reasonable application of advice of the experts is being applied

Acting in concert says nothing about the rightness of an action. It's not an argument. Besides which 'globalist elites' for lack of a better term seem highly co-ordinated with one another.

Italy chose to copy the CCP, legitimising lots of extremely dodgy measures, and then other countries chose to go along with same - Italy had already done it so how dodgy could it be?

Re motivation, the assumption seems to be that governments are filled with dispassionate technocrats, that people in generally are naturally good, that lies (except where we are praising lies) and human evil are extraordinary occurrences etc. I don't share these assumptions and throughout history people have always craved power simply for its own sake.

I read on Facebook on a group, community transmission has occurred in new Zealand so they are closing all schools now.

We still have some community transmissions occurring and we are considering opening ours.

First of all Facebook group, really?? It is literally a man down the pub said.

Secondly, they will not be closing schools. Maybe one but we will do the same.

I also think Occam's Razor is false. There's no particular reason why the simplest explanation should be the most obvious one and William of Ockham simply assumed it. Typical scholastic rationalism.

I have little faith in the imagination of our evil overlords if the best they could come up with was hiding our nose and mouth.

The Russians are an incredible people. If this vaccine was developed in the UK, the US or Germany this would be leading the news worldwide.

This is really big news but because of the anti Russia phobia that western media pushes on it's people it's viewed as some sort of negative when i fact this could be the beginning of the end of this virus.

Are you seriously naive enough to think the Russians actually developed a vaccine? Went through all phases and proved it's safe to use?

But in the absense of any evidence of an alternative explanation, and strong evidence for the simple explanation.....lets go the the coordinated global conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids

In relation to the tri-county lockdown, apologies if already stated but couldnt see in thread. Is it correct that anyone who chooses to travel outside of their county for personal non-urgent reasons can not actually be prosecuted as the legislation that was introduced last weekend is advisory only?

In other words, if stopped by the Gardai, you can listen to their advice but tell them you are on your way regardless?

It is an odd thing to turn half the world into a kind of prison on the basis of medical advice. It doesn't add up, it isn't historically normal. Anyway you've made your choice, just giving my perspective.

Closed off the whole country for an entire month yet schools still have to close. It's going to be a waste of time sending our kids back to school in a few weeks.

Not disagreeing with you but the only link i opened was someone saying they wore masks in a salon for a day and nobody got it. there must be better links than that.

Well if you had bothered with any of the others..

"The evidence from epidemiologic data and case studies may be even more compelling. A recent study, for example, used publicly available data to calculate the COVID-19 growth rate before and after mask mandates in 15 states and the District of Columbia between the end of March and late May of 2020. Researchers found that mask mandates led to a marked slowdown in the daily growth rate, estimating that mask mandates may have prevented up to 450,000 cases of COVID-19."

The Chinese also have a vaccine undergoing stage 3 testing in a number of countries, so who are you going to trust, the Chinese or the Russians ?

Putin claimed that the vaccine underwent the necessary tests. He added that one of his two daughters has received a shot of the vaccine and is feeling well.

The move comes despite many scientists in Russia and abroad questioning the decision to make the vaccine available for use before Phase 3 trials, which normally last for months and involve thousands of people.

Putin said that his daughter had a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius on the day of the first vaccine injection, and then it dropped to just over 37C on the following day.

After the second shot she again had a slight increase in temperature.

"She's feeling well and has a high number of antibodies,” Putin added. He didn't specify which of his two daughters received the vaccine.

The Health Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that the vaccine is expected to provide immunity from the coronavirus for up to two years.

Russian authorities have said that medical workers, teachers and other risk groups will be the first to be inoculated.

Russia said 20 countries have pre-ordered a billion doses of vaccine named ‘Sputnik V’ for foreign markets, a reference to the world’s first satellite.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that the vaccination of doctors could start as early as this month.

Large-scale production of the vaccine will start in September, and mass vaccination may begin as early as October, officials said. — Agencies

The crèche in Meath that was mentioned on here recently has now been closed by public health.

2 adults said to have very mild symptoms and 3 children said to be asymptomatic have tested postive

Not sure if mentioned earlier, but the dashboard has 21 in hospital, with just 1 admission in last 24 hours. Mistake? Last night it was 14 people.

Edit: as soon as I submitted that post, it went down to 14 on the dashboard...
