We need to get real and demand some brave decisions from this government.

An all-ireland elimination tactic to rid this virus from this island once and for all is the road to go down. The current mitigation tactics will not work.

About time someone asked should the meat factories be shut down.

Is there any HSE or health and safety inspections in them?

Meat factories and direct provision are round 2 of the nursing homes.

Once it gets in it runs rampant

Many people in direct provision work in nursing homes/as cleaners in hospiteals/factories etc aswell

This could explode v.quickly,if not caught a hold of

He says it’s not to do with parties, it’s to do with quite significant workplace outbreaks where there are people under a certain age

Nothing new about meat factories and direct provision getting hit.

Has been like that from the start.

Missed the conference but not very good news from Kildare, Laois and Offaly as expected. Local restrictions necessary I think.

Only 2 cases of community transmission is good news.

F**k. I live in Kildare and have underlying medical conditions. I wonder should I get myself out of work again??

I think hide in your panic room, take care

Yes but I don't think they are unannounced.

Yeah but Philip Nolan did say people need to hold back on parties.

    Everyone knows where they are.

That dog food factory outbreak got into a direct provision centre and has spread from there.

Outside of the clusters found through the testing and tracing of this outbreak cases are low in the community

    They will.

It's up to each individual teacher to decide if they wish to return.

With a trebling of the average daily rate over the past 3 weeks. . . If that trebles again in the next 3 weeks. . . I won't be returning.
Dont worry Peter. You wont have to return if its unsafe. Lets just see how things unfold. There is no way ASTI can possibly force their members into unsafe conditions and the way the virus is spreading appears to show schools are not safe. Teachers are the most important group of people we have in Ireland and we should never put their lives at risk. Hang on there Peter.

Just a quick aside from todays numbers.

My friend drives HGV's and is back and forth to Germany frequently. He told me over the last few weeks he's noticed a huge amount of UK reg cars on the boats coming from the UK to Ireland with camping gear, bikes etc.. in tow. This surprised me as shouldn't these people have to self isolate on entry?

All coming from the first outbreak in the dog food factory.

It's caused hundreds of cases through the direct provision centres

Is there a breakdown yet of today's cases as in what counties or is it just Laois, Kildare and Offaly?

We've not seen outbreaks like this through them until now

Main thing here is to not panic lads. There’s a clear issue and the authorities are dealing with it.

The cases from those 3 haven’t been announced. They’re to be included tomorrow. Sounds like they’re easing people into a big number.

Well, Glynn is saying clusters, not community spread.

    Spread in lots of counties.
They've said this evening that community transmission is increasing in absolute terms.
As the number of cases is increasing and the proportion stays the same then it's a problem.

Waiting for ECDC to see if masks in schools should be mandatory.
Why can't we take our own decision given we expect adults to do this.

"Kildare laois and offaly needs to pay attention to symptoms........"

It is time for localised measures such as the Scottish have done in Aberdeen.
