Why will they not close infected meat factories for 3 months as punishment for lax safety practices?

    Really?

69 is a terrible figure for Ireland

Its the equivalent of 800-900 in the UK, a number which a lot of people on here have been getting very animated about. And more than Germany, per capita.

Large numbers to come in tomorrow's report in Kildare, Laois and Offaly. Warning to people in that region.

It is so very disheartening to hear of the new cases and deaths.

There is no way that it could be otherwise though with the holliers in full swing this month and last.

We were doing so well a few weeks ago, and people were beginning to have a bit of hope for the future, but the usual rollercoaster happened, and here we are.

But with due respect to those in ICU, hospital, or who have died, we have to hope the source of the cases and test and trace works now and those affected isolate. I wonder how many are actually reporting symptoms and how many will actually get a test anyway though, and how many will stay home for 14 days also.

Most will, don't get me wrong, but those who won't don't care anyway.

    Bumpy road ahead.

NPHET has been advised of a significant number of cases in Kildare, Laois & Offaly which will be reported tomorrow.

226 cases Kildare, Laois & Offaly last 14 days.

GPs in these 3 areas have been given public health advice. Basic public health measures are being reinforced.

Over 70s in these areas advised to limit the amount of people they meet and remain distanced.

    I feel local lockdowns coming

It’s obviously not relevant to the case load now though
It dosent really matter does it how you say it, what you think, how you ignore it. Its a pandemic. The numbers are going up again in Ireland. The govt will have to react. The greedy gombeens will loose out.

Have heard a factory on Kildare Town has 30 cases. Would imagine that's to be included there. We might hit triple digits tomorrow even.

Ronan Glynn pretty much said it just now.

This singling out of individual counties a day ahead of their case data release is worrying.

Oh and they've just said for over 70s to be even stricter with their own behaviour. Stay off public transport, limit movement and socialising.

    This sounds bad enough.

    Did I hear right?
Massive number of new cases today from 3 counties yet to be announced

Some serious outbreaks in meat factories and direct provision centres in Kildare, Loais and Offaly.

Big case numbers to be reported from these counties tomorrow.

Don't you know that it's the unopened pubs across the country that is the problem?

Yeah and one of the counties is not Dublin.
Local lockdown could be used if needed but not yet.

Philip Nolan saying R of 1.8 is indicative within clusters but is not the R number in the wider community at this moment but they don't want to test that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,157 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

That sounds like a very grave warning from Glynn

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,153 ✭✭✭✭Gael23

He’s saying there that when Kildare, Laois and Offaly are taken out the R isn’t too bad

Listening to the language being used in the briefing here I'd say localised lockdowns will be recommended soon if they haven't been already.

Well if what's been preemeted they should be lockdowns in Kildare, Laois and Offaly.

Interesting point on R0 of 1.8 - what we are seeing is the growth of cases within those clusters. Hopeful that it will not spread to the community.
