As opposed to touching their mask free faces with those same hands?

Oddly enough, if you're not fidgeting with a face mask, you're less likely to touch your face.

There is no scenario were wearing a mask will increase your chances of getting covid. Which is what your post claimed.

So you're saying the WHO guidelines are wrong, and it's ok to touch your mask and face with dirty, contaminated hands?

First day of school in Georgia (USA) today. Christ almighty. Apologies for picture size.

I'm not sure I agree with saying this is only optics.

If politicians open pubs now and cases spike, and we can't open schools as a consequence they will be crucified by the public - and rightly so. The headlines write themselves. Notice how SF are saying absolutely nothing?

The only thing that's missing here is they haven't been clear enough with publicans and their staff. "It's unlikely pubs will be able to reopen, we need cases to start declining, if they do decline we'll reconsider it, in the meantime here is the proposed bailout to see you through to a vaccine. We'd also like you to look for another job in the meantime." - that should have been the message.

Nobody said that. Are you just making things up so you can disagree with people.

This thread is just sniping back and forth at people. I do realise that I am contributing nothing but having a moan. But it really has got bad.

And no risk from a mask so.

    You're not making sense.

That is a strong statement, what is your opinion on what happened in Israel where the school children were storing their masks on one hook?

Google face touching research, you might rethink the above statement.

So a class full of unmasked children all got covid but it was the hook that caused it....?

What about all these toxic masks in our community, if there is a lapse in concentration can people doing refuse catch it off masks? I am in favour of masks but they are not without risks if precautions are not taken

Sorry if this has been asked before but are there any figures on the numbers being tested and if it’s increased or decreased?
Surely the number of new cases detected is only relevant in the context of numbers being tested?

Of course contaminated masks spread it

There should be a leaflet & masks sent out to all households with clear instructions on how to wear them. These TV ads are no good.

If people incorrectly wear masks then they can increase their risk of infection from COVID and other illnesses. Otherwise, it wouldn't matter a jot how people wear them and the WHO wouldn't have produced lovely colourful posters.

I saw a used face mask lying on the ground in a shop the other day #disgusting #filth

You do realise a contaminated child had to put it on the mask in the first place? Then said child sat unmasked in a packed classroom. Now are we gonna argue over the chicken and egg as well?

They should have been wearing their masks in class. It's the fcuking point of them. Your argument is completely idiotic.

This government don't do forward thinking - they act and deal with the consequences later

MM all a fluster when asked to clarify when the new (review) date for phase 4 was - how he got to be the FF leader and leader of this country is beyond me, Donnelly seems like the type to just get headlines in the media

I'm no Varadkar fan but him and Harris communicated fantastically. Everything was described in detail and explained properly. We're getting lots of mixed signals here.
Like I still cannot understand why the outdoor gatherings weren't increased for sport...

With the vast amounts we are borrowing this year, the extra amount needed to send a few masks to every house in the country would barely register.

I was in my local supermarket today for the first time in a fortnight, the amount of people with masks under their nose was surprising, I don't know of any case within 40km from me since it started but it looked silly. I also don't think it is necessary in supermarkets with large ceilings and social distancing as much as possible but I won't do it incorrectly.

They might go to the pub afterwards?

How could you INCREASE the risk? If I wear a hat in the rain have I increased my risk of getting wet? No, I might still get wet but I certainly haven't INCREASED my chances.

It makes enforcement way easier if masks are distributed. No excuse of "i dont have one" when everyone has been sent one.

If the pubs are closed then that doesn't really add up

If you have covid the mask is another way to spread it if you do not look after it properly

You get the government you deserve.

    No one deserves this government

Think we all could take extended restrictions if delivered in the right way, something this government are incapable of
