Anyone want to guess the daily number of cases today? Hopefully another day without any deaths.

Unfortunately, I am thinking 42. Zero deaths though.

Well since 42 is the answer to everything you're playing it safe there :)

They observed a case fatality rate around 5-6% and an infection fatality rate between 0.05% and 0.1%. Finding the vast vast majority must be asymptomatic. They suggest that differences in prevalence between non-slum and slum areas (16% vs 57%) is due to higher hygiene and lower density and conclude that distancing is an effective measure to slow the spread and must continue.

I would have thought at an IFR of 0.05% to 0.1% the conclusion would be to just return to normal? Maybe too early in the study to suggest that just yet. In any case it seems IFR are not necessarily those nightmare numbers that are being bandied about.

So one serology study in India invalidates all the others which are trending towards 0.65%?

You really think people made full recoveries? You believe anything.

So you believe nobody has made a full recovery? That has to be a wind up surely?

Covid-19 testing to date has cost the State €84 million
Despite Leo Varadkar saying each test costs €200 – the average cost per test is €98.

There have been several examples of boxers/MMA fighters who have tested positive and had their fights postponed, only to fight again a few weeks later and win.
Same thing with Pro Footballers who tested positive and got back playing as good as ever (even Pepe Reina the Villa keeper who apparently got a very bad dose and was very sick but played as keeper for Villa after the restart).
Djokavic also seems to be back playing, we'll see how he does at the US open but I doubt he has been affected.

Harsh to wish illness on anyone, if you're serious.

He hasn't started a war yet in fairness to him...That must be a ****ing record for a US president :D

Wow. Not expecting that. Means the weekend lag may be happening all the time?? And we'll see the 40 tomorrow?

Actually, I would make an exception in Trumps' case - the knock-on effects of him dying from Covid 19 would be tremendously beneficial to the human race.

Great to have 4 days of no deaths

11 of today's cases are close contacts of confirmed cases with a high proportion of todays cases being reported as asymptomatic

It does seem to catch up eventually so I am expecting the 46 positive tests yesterday to feed through at some point in next 48hrs

By the By, I know private clinics and other medical places (e.g. tropical medical Bureau) are offering paid tests to the public. They are necessary for people who are travelling abroad or people who have come into the country from abroad and can't get one through a GP etc.

I was enquiring with them today on behalf of foreign students coming over next month and and they say that although they are private tests and seperate from the public health system they do report positives cases to the HSE.

This could be another explanation for the mysterious extra numbers on certain days.

They're probably keeping the 46 cases to warn us to stay in for the bank holiday, I heard it's going to be a scorcher.

The opposite to saving them for a rainy day.

I really think wishing somebody to get sick is poor form, whether it's Trump or someone else.
