Just curious are you a Pink Floyd fan? Your username is a class track of theirs.

    I do like their stuff

I must've subconsciously named myself after that song, but it wasn't intentional

I think we had our lowest week for deaths this week since the first death was reported in March.

21 less reported cases this week compared to last week, good going when you consider some was going into a mad panic with the rise in the R Rate number.
If we can stay at this level I think we'll be doing really well into the future tbh

The deaths tell little about the rate of transmission in the last 3 to 4 weeks. Their is obviously a lag as I'm sure most here now know. Good to see tho and hopefully its sustainable

But the type of transmission tells a lot about the deaths. The nursing/care homes were our biggest issue. Now that they're under control we won't be having many deaths.

I was in a garage earlier procuring a jumbo breakfast roll. There were at least 10 customers in the shop and not a single one was wearing a mask. About half of the staff were wearing either a mask or face shield.

Face shields are useless on their own. The shop should be enforcing masks and I wouldnt be going in there if they dont. there was just a study from Switzerland about a hotel outbreak where everyone who wore just a face shield became infected and none who wore masks or a mask/face shield combo did

A lot of tourism traffic from abroad and other Irish counties

We need to wait another week or two before we can really be sure of a trend but it seems to my layman brain that the slightly increased rate of transmission is not translating into increased hospital capacity. At least not yet. I could be wrong here but I think I heard on the radio that as of this morning there was only 10 patients hospitalised with coronavirus in the state?

Deaths in Ireland should be very low in the next few weeks based on the number of cases and hospital admissions. However, the recent number of daily cases in some European countries is a concern.
    Russia 5765
    UK 745
    Germany 818
    Poland 443
    Romania 1284
    Belgium 528
    Ukraine 920
    France 1130
    Serbia 467
    Turkey 927
    Spain 2255
Second wave in Europe but none of these countries on the Green List

Does anyone know the shortest amount of time a proven to work Vaccine has taken from development through to deployment to the masses, a couple of months does seem like an awfully short time frame for a vaccine to be 100% safe, hope im wrong ill be first in line when it does come.

The other thing I would say is no disease has ever had such expertise and money thrown at it to produce a working vaccine.

Plenty climbing Croagh Patrick today not much social distancing or not one mask seen on any of them.
The whole thing is a farce with about half the population obeying and the other half giving the two fingers

Spain Belgium and France are the only ones there with notable rises. Most of the othere have been reporting similar for months

Did you say the same about the BLM protests around the country or pubs serving 9 euro meals.

It seems to me there is a hell of a lot of people who think protesting about BLM and eating 9 euro meals in pubs makes you immune to COVID 19 but anything else it's " we're doomed, Doomed, DOOMED I tell you "

So there's just 10 people in hospital now with it out of a population of 5 million people. An incredibly low number and great to see

    Couple of questions:

At it's April peak, how many in hospital with Covid were we averaging compared to the 10 now?
    • And are we seeing lower numbers because the treatments got better?
    • Or because the people getting it are younger?
    • Or because people are now more aware of socially distancing etc/the practices we now have in place?
Or is it a combination of all of these?

Any idea how the Galway races will fare? Large amounts of people drinking, moving from pub to pub to watch the races.
