The article says initial reports said they went to pubs but it was then confirmed they did very little movement. One person travelled via public transport. Should be relatively easy to trace.

    It's 30+ people.

Did they go into shops? Go to petrol stations? Did they go to a pub? I mean those ****ers are obviously covering up because they have literally put the country at risk.

30+ people are now potentially infected and were going to bars, shops all over Kerry before returning home.

Why the **** is that little **** who knew he/she had covid 19 not being prosecuted?

You’re jumping the gun a little bit, calm down. Let the health authorities do their work before throwing a hissy.

One person KNEW they had Covid and didn't tell anyone until Sunday. By that time the group of 30+ had been going to pubs and bars together and partying all weekend.

The initial infected person should be charged. The rest are absolute goons for even having such a big gathering with people from all parts of the country.

So far to date our government and the majority of the population has relied on other peoples good will to do the right thing during all this and some people are incapable of thinking beyond themselves and this article shows it. The authorities have to come down heavy on this person to set an exam otherwise there's nothing stopping other people from behaving the same way endangering others when they feel unwell.

Whoever this Robert fella on Radio 1 is will defend this new legislation to the end. A joke of a law, no enforcement, no details.

I opened the Tracking App On my iphone this morning and had to go through all the registration steps again (had downloaded it earlier in the week and was working fine for a few days). No iphone or app updates in the meantime. Strange, I probably count as 2 new registrations now.

Robert Troy, FF Minister for State for Trade. Unclear who and how it will be enforced but hopefully that law exists people will comply anyway.

All these reports of long term effects. It hasn't been around long term. So they've no idea if there will be people in 20 or 30 years with problems due to catching Covid 19 on 2020. Any damage seen now in certain organs has no guarantee of being permanent and could heal naturally. It's important to highlight potential risks considering its a novel virus. But a lot of these articles come off as one trying to out do the other in how bad this is.

It's like the guidance on pubs, reports that Gardai didn't know what they were enforcing.

Great at bringing out laws but no detail about how or who will enforce. Law on face coverings isn't even published.

And guidance for pubs that are opening on the 20th for first time still not out when it's 9 days away.

At least the last Government had a coherent plan even if not everyone agreed with it.

This crowd don't seem to know what they're at.

I dunno, lot of same players from FG still involved. Maybe change in government didn't help think some of the decisions made by previous government were delayed and unclear too at times. But agree this is worse

Unless they are essentially going to operate the same way as the gastropubs and restaurants are now minus the requirement for a substantial meal, it does seem that they are being treated with disdain.

Any guidelines should have been published in the middle of the week just gone at the latest.

Although I have seen two pubs in my town getting some prep-work done indoors this week (including a full renovation for one of them) so they must have some idea what's in the pipeline.

It could be that, make people sit down at set tables say. But would think a lot of places that don't serve seats wouldn't have tables (unless they've bought them in since) Still have contact tracing but the time thing would be very hard to enforce I think.

As in government have had weeks now to have these published, if they want them open from 20th it seems very last minute.

Anywhere I know are basically looking at the guidelines from a few weeks ago and adopting them to suit their own pubs minus the food requirement. Best they can do until told otherwise.

Is there any way of testing this T cell immunity theory or what?
Yet the governments push on with antibody tests. It is impossible to measure full seroprevalence without also testing t-cells.
Still means they shouldn’t be doing seroprevalence tests because they’re not accurate.
Looking for changes in T cells at a molecular level requires very specialised technology and equipment.

There will always be great advances and discoveries made by researchers in small studies who have these available to them.

To apply that kind of testing to routine labs at a national level is a hop, skip, jump, few years and 10s of millions of euro away.

My daughter has had t-cell specific analysis and it had to be sent to a lab abroad (UK or Italy I think) and it took about 6-8 weeks to get results.

I'm not going to ask of speculate why your daughter had that testing but for example T cells can be counted and classified by certain "markers" on the cells.
T helper cells have CD4 markers
Cytotoxic T cells have CD8 markers
B cells have CD19 markers etc.

Certain markers have been established to be changed or effected by certain diseases e.g. HIV targets CD4 markers on T cells.

-We would have to definitively find out what markers SARS CoV 2 attacks.
-Is it one marker, is it more.
-Do these changes occur in the presence of other Coronaviruses or are they specific to this strain.
-How long do these changes last.
-Will they still be detectable long after the patient has recovered.

It is encouraging that T cells have been found to fight off the virus in the absence of antibodies. It suggests some form of immunity, but we still don't know for sure. So right now its not worth trying to provide that kind of testing.

Updated estimates of level of infection put rate of infection at 6.7%in France - about 4.48 million people.
Would put the IFR at 0.67% in France, strikingly similar to the esimtated IFR in New York of 0.69%.

A few months ago 200,000 deaths was predicted as the worst possible outcome for deaths in America from this Virus.... I think they are gonna hit this by the end of September the way the cases are accelerating.

Not really tbh. Find they let politicians argue and only ask experts the odd question which is fairly useless.

I think it varies per pub. Lot seem to be enforcing it, some don't.

Think it would be tomorrow. Think some are marching at home on virtually, no joke. Probably that bonfires are discouraged but guess there will inevitably be a few

200,000 deaths sometime in early Autumn looks likely for the US. This is only just the official figure, excess mortality implies there is significant undercounting of deaths occurring in several US states along with this. Who knows how high it would be before a vaccine is distributed.

Yeah but I guess the main concern about coronavirus is it's so new that long-terms effects won't be known for years.
