Stopped in the Applegreen in Paulstown in Kilkenny today. Two British registration cars with bike racks and bikes on the roof, full families with kids. These are clearly holiday makers and this is very concerning to me. Many Brits may see it as their right to visit Ireland but frankly they can f*ck off.

Yes let’s destabilise society and start attacking a family of tourists from the U.K...
It’s up to the authorities to do testing & contact tracing of those arrivals. They’ve gotten through the border checks and they will be phoned this week & checked up on I think?
A few weeks back, I did hear Michael O’Leary at one point offering to do the contact tracing side for the government for inbound arrivals - getting passengers to provide their details to Ryanair or upon checking in or something similar. He said Irish authorities could have the contact tracing information urgently needed within an hour...I think it’s a very good idea.

It's been fairly well reported that any future restrictions won't be national.

Unless they have a crystal ball they are talking out of their pipe.

Bars will be the first go if their is a resurgence.

IF you close the bars in one town in Ireland all you do is make the bars in the next town twice as busy.

First thing to go in Texas today.

Texas Gov. Orders Bars To Close

For context relative to "local" / "regional", Texas is over 8 times bigger than Ireland with nearly 30 million people.

There is a reason pubs are the last on the list to open here. Drunk People.

But it's been 2 months now and I still haven't got my Refund.

    Fúck off Michael.

I was in Cashel during the week and saw a number of non Irish looking tourists (separately) with cameras around neck etc.
I couldn't help wonder where they were staying.

    Purple mountain.

How will localised restrictions work here? They can't just close off Dublin, Cork or Offaly. Close of Dublin, more freedom in your holiday home, so off you go. It happened in Italy when they first imposed restrictions and you saw people fleeing. Drinking in the next town will happen here as well.

Fair enough. Yeah it is frustrating when people can only officially travel outside their county (unless within 20km) from next Monday.

When ferries and planes still operating not sure how to prevent the low number that do unfortunately.

They can't, this localized restriction or lockdown method is complete nonsense and won't work on an island of our small size.

They can lockdown a meat plant or a factory or a school, but they can't lockdown one county where half the people work in the other county.

I mean how many people travel to Dublin for just work?

Regional containment is impossible when it only takes 3-4 hours to drive across the entire country and we have a work force that is fluid.

Pipe dreams and soundbites to make people feel better.

The infection rates will spike in the most populous areas. Pandemic 101.

You’d nearly swear some people have something against other peoples freedoms and can’t wait to see another lockdown. I’d swear some people hate to see other people getting on with their lifes and having some sort of happiness and contentment or having something to look forward to . Could be that good old irish begrudgery playing a part.

They then try to make people feel guilty for living and trying to have some normality again.

There will be a major disappointment when there won’t be a full lockdown.

I’m glad you agree about the second lockdown ;-)

I agree that we really need to be strict on border checks with GB, especially coming off boats. Tell them they have to self isolate for 14 days or don't come at all.

I know if they are that bothered they will come through the North but we can't make it easy for them.

Positivity rate in past week is now 0.4%
Per Worldometer our 7 day average is 7.
R-Number is estimated to be around 0.5-0.7

Great posts and data in here daily Citizen, you and Stephen are the main reason I check in here after 6pm

That positivity rate is for the amount of people tested? So, for every 100 they tested, only 0.4 tested positive?

If so, that's excellent. How does it compare to 4 weeks ago?

Maybe if the people had rioted, set fire to stuff, and called for death to white people there would be no ‘major incident’, the police would take the knee, and the media would treat them as heroes.

Zara King asking when can kids go for sleepovers. Random enough

Between that and her fascination with weddings, she's something else

Sleepovers would come under the "50 people allowed indoors" Phase surely? Kids sleeping over in relatives has been happening for at least a week with some families

Thank you! Yes, for every 250 tests we have 1 positive. On the 27th of May the positivity rate was 1.9% with 60 average cases per day.

Holohan needs to stop being given such prominence, at this stage he is spouting personal opinions and anecdotes, he is an unelected HSE CMO. He needs to realise his place.

With the Government change this week, does his role stay the same going forward? I'm guessing so, as he chairs NIPHET and isn't aligned with any one Party

The same has happened in Dubai following video footage of huge crowds at pool parties going viral

All bars and pubs in Dubai have to stop serving alcohol immediately, starting Wednesday, June 24 until further notice, Dubai police has said.

A notice on the matter was issued to hospitality operators on Wednesday.

“We would like to inform you that it has been decided to close all bars and pubs and stop serving alcoholic beverages as of Wednesday 24/06/2020 until further notice. Kindly inform and abide by the decision to close in order to avoid legal issues. You will be notified to restart at a later time,” WhatsOn quoted the police notice as saying.

The order is likely to also include pool bars, unless they have a restaurant licence.

Police had only allowed licensed bars and pubs to start selling alcohol last weekend.

Last month, Dubai police confirmed that licensed restaurants in Dubai could serve alcohol along with food.

You do wonder, with all the pent up social energy that people have, how it's not going to start fresh clusters in Ireland when the pubs are back open

If FF want him gone, he will be gone.

    Doubt that will happen though.
