    Yes: to protect others
But how exactly does it restrict you? You keep a mask in your pocket or the car and pop it on when you go into the shops. You take it off when you come out. What exactly is the problem? Are you afraid you'll look ridiculous? Does it mess up your hair? What?

It is a restriction and I make no apologies after months of restrictions for wanting to get back to normal. Until there is a vaccine, those that are vulnerable must take good care of themselves. They can no longer expect everyone else to be restricted on their behalf.

What does it restrict you from doing ?
That's the whole point of masks, to remove restrictions that otherwise would need to be in place.

So you want them restricted on your behalf instead

Make no mistake, if there's a rise in infections, there will be more restrictions imposed on you. And on the rest of us.

Being coerced into doing something that I do not want to do (wear a mask) is a restriction on my freedom. It is quite clear that those who are vulnerable or caring for a vulnerable person are leading the campaign to impose restrictions on the rest of us. I can understand that, but I am no longer willing to accept it. Not when there is another solution i.e. the vulnerable restrict themselves.

That is a very strange thing to say. I don't want them to do anything on my behalf. They can do exactly as they choose - take on a level of risk or cocoon. It is entirely up to them.

You are not answering the question. HOW EXACTLY DOES WEARING A MASK RESTRICT YOUR FREEDOM?

Do you think not being allowed smoke or a person that smokes not being allowed smoke on public transport is a restriction of your/their freedom?

I mean the law is there to protect others not necessarily you/them.

Why do you have a problem with protecting others from your germs?

I choose not to wear one. If forced to wear one then my freedom has been restricted.

So what does a mask do to you that restricts your freedom? Does it stop your legs from working? Paralyse your arms? What?

Oh no. A mask. My freedom.

I don't, but it is not for me to protect others. They should look after themselves. If you were the boy in a bubble I believe you would want everyone to live in a bubble.

No one ever forced me to wear a condom.

You dont even know this much.
In the lives saved by a general policy of wearing masks may be your own, or even just a stay in hospital.
You dont know how for sure how you or your loved ones will fare if infected.

No I'm not obtuse. I am simply asking a simple question. What exactly is restricting about wearing a mask? It takes a few seconds to put on before going into a shop, it is easy to remove. It stops you from sharing your germs with other people. If everyone wore one, it'd lead to less droplets in the air and reduce the risk of a second wave.

Most soldiers in WWII were fighting for freedom. Again, labels and insults are nothing to me.

    I find it restricting.

No mask for me. Doubt i'll need it, but a colleague has said they'll do me a letter stating that I cannot wear a mask as I find restricts my breathing and causes panic attacks.

    Yes: homemade
I would be one of the people that don't wear a mask when going to the supermarket.
Since the restrictions started I got into a routine where I go to the supermarket in non busy hours, usually late in the evening on weekdays, where in many cases there was no queue to get in because of how few people are in it. I always go with a list, sorted by aisle (no browsing around, if it isn't on the list, I don't really need it). The whole thing takes less than 10 minutes, so I never saw the need to wear a mask, I consider the risk extremely low.

I do wear a mask on public transport, as my trip would be an hour long. At the moment I am in the minority, but hopefully as capacity increases, common sense will make more people wear one.

But germs have been around since even before the human race evolved, are you saying there were no germs until covid arrived?
Humans have something called an immunity system after two million years of evolution to cope with these germs and fight infections.

And here come the armchair epidemiologists

Tell you what, how about I infect you with some HIV or Ebola. Sure it's only germs.

Your 'freedom' might remain intact but your ability to use public transport is now restricted. And I'm delighted about it, hopefully your ability to use other services will soon go too because you choose your freedom.

Do you know something no one else knows? There are no new restrictions on public transport that I am aware of.

As of right this minute what is stopping this poster or anyone else from using public transport?

    Genuine question by the way
