But how exactly does it restrict you? You keep a mask in your pocket or the car and pop it on when you go into the shops. You take it off when you come out. What exactly is the problem? Are you afraid you'll look ridiculous? Does it mess up your hair? What?

That's the whole point of masks, to remove restrictions that otherwise would need to be in place.

Being coerced into doing something that I do not want to do (wear a mask) is a restriction on my freedom. It is quite clear that those who are vulnerable or caring for a vulnerable person are leading the campaign to impose restrictions on the rest of us. I can understand that, but I am no longer willing to accept it. Not when there is another solution i.e. the vulnerable restrict themselves.

That is a very strange thing to say. I don't want them to do anything on my behalf. They can do exactly as they choose - take on a level of risk or cocoon. It is entirely up to them.

I mean the law is there to protect others not necessarily you/them.

You dont even know this much.
In the lives saved by a general policy of wearing masks may be your own, or even just a stay in hospital.
You dont know how for sure how you or your loved ones will fare if infected.

No mask for me. Doubt i'll need it, but a colleague has said they'll do me a letter stating that I cannot wear a mask as I find restricts my breathing and causes panic attacks.

I would be one of the people that don't wear a mask when going to the supermarket.
Since the restrictions started I got into a routine where I go to the supermarket in non busy hours, usually late in the evening on weekdays, where in many cases there was no queue to get in because of how few people are in it. I always go with a list, sorted by aisle (no browsing around, if it isn't on the list, I don't really need it). The whole thing takes less than 10 minutes, so I never saw the need to wear a mask, I consider the risk extremely low.

I do wear a mask on public transport, as my trip would be an hour long. At the moment I am in the minority, but hopefully as capacity increases, common sense will make more people wear one.

But germs have been around since even before the human race evolved, are you saying there were no germs until covid arrived?

Humans have something called an immunity system after two million years of evolution to cope with these germs and fight infections.
