Badly needed but they will have to police it, €100 fines handed out will help.
    Sanctions to be decided yet

When will they become mandatory, from Monday? Nobody is wearing them, perhaps if the drivers started it might be some incentive.

Every shop will be sold out now and back to sky high prices for them

I haven't seen a bus driver in Cork City not wearing one, dunno about anywhere else

So far non essential journeys and travel out from the country is advised against. By the 9th of the July, there will be a document published about some sort of an air bridge.

I'm still in limbo about my holidays. So far a deposit has been paid and I just want it all to go to the wall. I don't want to go. It was booked before the virus was a global pandemic. Was due to fly to Italy for a cruise around the med. Of all things.

Seen the odd one on Dublin bus but by no means widespread use - but they are pretty protected to start with anyway

Train drivers only have to wear them if accompanied in the cab by an inspector or trainee

Maybe try reporting some posts? We can't read every post in every thread.

Masks mandatory on public transport, confirmed

Not quite yet, discussions to happen between departments to draw up legislation and to figure out how it'll be enforced.

A day of rememberance on 18th March every year would be a nice touch.

I'm delighted with the progress but at no time did they say we have won. They said we are winning but to keep fighting.

Well, Leo said "we have prevailed as a country" or something like that.

Nope not from Monday. No date set as of yet. Legislation still to be drawn up

I think keeping the lessons learned and be prepared will be a nice touch.

In our objectives trough the restrictions. We never planned to eliminate the virus, just keep it within control.

Talk of "we have won" is downright dangerous and most definitely not what is being said at the press conference.

    :D
Me too, getting Chinese take aways since March.
I do believe in taking rudimentary precautions, despite having a positive outlook on things related to Covid - so I do:

    1) take food in from delivery guy
    2) open the packages ready to serve
    3) wash my hands, get the plate out
    4) put the food out
    5) wash hands before eating.

Some will probably think this is OTT but getting takeaways is the only event that I engage in where I can't vouch for who has handled things.

In terms of the food itself - I have zero concerns about the hot food itself, but someone mentioned an extra minute in the microwave might assuage any fears there!
I would be much more concerned about the amount of salt and sugar in the Chinese takeaway than any virus risk

Stopping the Cheltenham goers or quarantining them - that would be one for your list of things to do differently Leo. Also you did a cead Mille Failte to the incoming Italian flights Leo. That should have stopped.

Yes interesting turn of events, could end up travel to Spain and Italy will be allowed but not GB. There was 1000+ new cases there today, still a long way to go.

I genuinely think the only country we should be banning travel to/from rn is the UK, if that causes sour grapes from Boris then so be it, **** 'em.

And plus, the role of people going on holidays in Febuary/March in contributing to the initial spread of the virus is well known. I myself know two people who got it on holidays in Austria. I would be more concerned about that aspect than the actual plane flight.
    In today's news:

Austrian ski resort Ischgl, has record rate of coronavirus antibodies, study finds

Italy and Spain still have cases too

I would be fearful travelling anywhere abroad this year

    Is that with immediate effect?
