I’d put Gamin (ZGM) on her.
You need muscle in a cow for Fiston imo.

She takes after her mother's people... I think a limo would be the job for her

Nice turn of phrase that! I agree. I’d say Ivor would be a lovely match for her

Would you not find the calf would be too leggy if you ai her to a saler again? Lovely heifer though.

Normally put lim or saler on heifers so open to either.Might try Knell on her .Havent used him yet.only zag before on heifers.

I think Brookland Marco from dovea looks good, I think he go well on that heifir. Plus if you get a heifir calf it would be a good one to keep

I'm not familiar with dovea bulls.Use progressive here.I will have to check these bulls out and maybe order a few in.

Saw nice calves off CH4491 & HJD is supposed to be a good cross on that type cow

    For Dovea CH4159, CH2304 or CH4158
    That CH5932 could be good

Have used knell on heifers the past 2 years, think I only had a slight pull on one. Find him fine for heifers.
Zag probably that little easier calved that said. Wouldn't put me off though.

Anyone have any experience with Ch bull navarone from bova?
    Would he be easier calved?

Spent a while yesterday looking at bulls in the different AI companies.
For purebred Limousins, these are the ones that caught my attention.

    Bavardage (AGB) is no longer available. Great bull, but these new unproven bulls are by him;
    Hotel (LM5644) - Munster/PG, €18 straw
    IX (LM5983) - Gene Ireland, €5 straw
    Ivantonov (LM5887), Dovea , €12

Cameos (LM2191) no longer available, JT (LM5641) in Munster/PG by him, €24

Ampertaine Foreman (S1421) gone mad dear now - €130 and out of stock.
    Bulls by him;
    ERNEVALLEY MADISON ET (Lm4745) - Dovea - €10
    Elite Lacette ET (Lm5037) - Eurogene - €??

One bull calf off him from a really good breeding cow. Not impressed tbh. Cow has had much nicer blues.
Don't think she even noticed she was calving tbh, was out in a minute from feet to tail.

Good value at that. Did you have to ring them for the prices?
    Will you try them?

No, just had a look at the Dovea price list i have here.
Won’t try them this year anyway, am putting Gamin on most of the cows this year along with a few Ivor on second Calvers and a few Dromanig king, like the couple of calves i had off King this year.
If Madisons calving difficultly stays low i might try him next year.

Super calves. That G7 line in Castleview herd breeds good stock. CASTLEVIEW CASINO is the same line.

I ordered straws yesterday from Eurogene.
Elite Lacette ET by Foreman and Emerson (LM5037) €16 each and
    Claragh Neymar (LM5413) €12 each.
Unproven bulls but I'll try one or two this year. Claragh Neymar's back breeding is mad. Sympa and Cerberus crossing back and forth there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,658 ✭✭✭tanko

Curaheen Earp x OZS first calver, Highfield Odran bull calf.

I know most farmers on this thread are breeding quality continental suckler cattle so will have little interest in beef Shorthorn.

Has anyone used Chapleton Kingsley SH4473 from Eurogene. I'm thinking of using him on a pbr 1st calver.
