Contract tracing team stood down in Cork.

    https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/fire-fighting-coronavirus-contact-tracing-hub-in-ucc-stood-down-for-now-1006278.html

A bit too early I think, even if they can be called back.

Friends dad was in U.K. early feb and came back with a cold he couldn’t shift. Continued on as normal. Went to docs, assumed bad virus. Even start of March, couldn’t get a test. Eventually did but before he got results he was hospitalised, tested positive on admission, mid March. He’s fine now but it was certainly here and in U.K. earlier than confirmed cases.

More likely caught it in the docs closer to the test, otherwise he would have infected a lot of people

To be fair, Social distancing is still being practiced by the majority.

Not from what I see and from who I’ve been talking to they are of the same opinion. We haven’t had social distancing since mass protests in Dublin.

The only ones I've not seen social distancing are the ones who've not been social distancing the past few months: certain groups of teenagers and family units.

It's 'you're', plus I never said we are no different than where were in March. Try not to misrepresent what is said, pathetic posting behaviour tbh.
I see people practicing SD every single day including my workplace.

You’ve a fine pair of blinkers.
Do not comment on my posting behaviour please. If you’ve a problem report.
    Sd has all but disappeared.
You implied we were in a better place than March. We are marginally better off.
Check your tone and keep things civil maybe try to be less sensitive thanks.

Yep, a substantial section of the community that interact with each other thus facilitating a potential future spread.

If you are going to misrepresent what I say on the thread to suit yourself I will comment on the thread about your behaviour.
Anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows we are in a better place than we were in March.
You have repeatedly said SD has disappeared but you have been contradicted by several posters regarding your claim.
I don't need to check my tone, I don't misrepresent others or make personal comments to illicit a reaction.

Yes. We had a patient in our hospital kept testing positive for over 2 months.

So could it be those tested and classed as being asymptomatic; it’s possible they could have had the virus weeks beforehand and that’s what has caused the positive result?

Definitely a possibility given the long time from symptoms to positive test. My friend said he felt unwell around a week after visiting (pre doc visit) but not the classical symptoms. Is considering an antibody test.

    Where did I get personal?
You are saying we are in a better place than in March I have agreed, however I am telling you it’s not as good as you think.
You are overestimating how much further on (from a being prepared point of view) than we were in March.
Several posters have agreed regarding my view on SD.
Your comment on anyone with an ounce of intelligence is an immediate personal remark which is strange as you are the one that gets upset and sensitive about personal remarks.
I don’t misrepresent any comments I just put forward my view.
I also don’t try and suppress other peoples views.
You might want to try that.
Again I’d urge you to check your tone this is a public forum, we are all entitled to our views.

Social distancing has never been a thing in supermarkets. I haven't thought about it other than when I see someone making an effort to practice it then I try to accommodate them but for most people I pass or stand near on a daily basis, if they don't care I don't care.

Certain posters on here think SD is practiced 100% of the time all the time.

49,554 new cases reported in Brazil today. And that's even with limited testing, so the real figure is going to be higher.

It's practiced by more people than its not, a lot more I would say.

Probably but it only takes one who doesn’t SD to pass the virus on.

Brazil is in real trouble as is USA and Russia.

English supermarkets where I am had about 60% of people social distancing during the peak of this until a few weeks ago. Now it's between 5-10%. No lessons learnt. Just mindless sheep going around in their own little world. I realise now just how easy big business find robbing people blind.

I saw something about them going to test vaccines on people in Brazil as it is, sadly, a great case study.

The coronavirus pandemic is “accelerating” after a record number of infections were recorded in just one day, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned.

The global health body said more than 150,000 cases of COVID-19 were reported on Thursday - the highest since the pandemic began.

In a media briefing on Friday, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said nearly half of the newly reported cases were in the Americas, with significant numbers also in south Asia and the Middle East.

There's a bit more to it than that. The 'one' must meet particular parameters.

If that person is infected and doesn’t SD that person could pass it on.

Leo's Mean Girls quote, is beyond pathetic.

The insensitivity. Had Boris or the Donald done something similar, the usual outrage people would be all over it. They seem to apply different standards to our own.

People don't want masks, they don't want lockdowns, they don't want social distancing. Give people what they want, the ability to practise their favourite hobby - shopping! Sorry this is an English based post, no offence to you all :)

I'm shocked about that tbh. It is news to me.

If someone who had no symptoms tested positive, I imagine it would be impossible to tell when they contracted it or what stage of infection they were in.

Ok. I take it you are taking the piss that you didn’t know a virus could be passed from person to person under certain parameters?

You'll have to explain that one. What did he say? And what or who are Mean Girls?

It's like some people are in absolute fear of living their life due to what the rest of the human population of Ireland are doing

The chances of catching this in Ireland are now minuscule
