    OK so.

Lets make that happen, can't be that hard with those numbers can it?

Where's the FG/FF government JJ? You counting chickens again?

    Dunno.

But those numbers you gave look like a great chance to form a government that isn't FG/FF.

    Wonder what's holding them up?

Too many big mouths who dont want to give up public profile.
Imagine McDonald, Rich Boy, Paul Murphy trying to come to an agreement about what biscuits they wouId for coffee break. They could for a Marxist Trotskyist Slabist coalition until they started eliminating each other.
At least those other heroes of the Left, Wallace and Daly, had the cop on to go and get their heads into the biggertroughin Brussels

Opinion poll expected tomorrow morning in the business post.

Apart from the usual questions, it will also ask the public to rate each party's response to Covid.

    Predictions?

Interesting article in the Irish Times today

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/patience-wearing-thin-as-three-parties-crawl-towards-a-government-1.4266008
A draft agreement was hoped for by this weekend, but that will not happen. Maybe next week, some now suggest. Others wonder if the middle of June – or even later in the month – is not more realistic.
There, a topic, if agreed, is signed off. Difficulties, if there are some, are worked through by party deputy leaders: Simon Coveney for Fine Gael, Dara Calleary for Fianna Fáil, and the Greens’ Catherine Martin.

Both the Greens and Fine Gael say that Fianna Fáil’s impatience to conclude a deal at any price is jarring

If they fail, the issue is escalated to the party leaders. However, some issues take the short route, going directly to Micheál Martin, Leo Varadkar and Eamon Ryan. Too many things are being pushed upstairs, some fear.

The old truism of Irish politics, as recounted by numerous smaller parties and Independents with experience of coalition negotiations past – that Fianna Fáil easily accepts policy demands, but Fine Gael digs in – is proving true again.

Fine Gaelers complain that Fianna Fáil is too ready to bow to the Greens; Greens say that Fine Gael, with Coveney to the fore, are unwilling to bend, and, by and large, that dealings with Fianna Fáil are unproblematic.

Basically it goes on to show that there is considerably more infighting going on than is released to the media, that FF seem to be so eager for an agreement that they will agree with virtually anything the Greens demand, but FG seem to be digging their heels in on every issue that is related to the economy or requires spending.

Pat Leahy and Fiach Kelly go on to suggest that although it likely that an agreement will finally be arrived at although one that is very much delayed, and this now might not be until the end of June.

The question is is will the party members of all three parties actually vote for an agreement in a postal vote where it seems there appears to be major disagreement in some places.

    Not so thick is he.

Seeing as the last Irish person to hold the office was Peter Sutherland it doesn't say much for the job, Karma caught up with him so here's hoping the bitch is on form

Let's put it like this, if I was drowning in quicksand and the unlikely event that it offered to save me, I'd prefer to drown than be beholden to something like that

    Was that a serious question?

Even TD's from his own party disliked the man, and for good reason too. He would sell his soul for self advancement.

The only thing Fine Gael are going to accomplish is a merger with whatever rump Fianna Fail emerges after Michéal Martin finally stops being party leader.

Two polls from 2 different polling companies saying the same thing.

'We want FG and SF in government and FF can sling their hook'.

With FF being so unpopular and the 'leaders' in the new government can a government survive for 5 years?

Jesus if them polls are anyway reflective of the public's mood right now, good luck with M.M demanding he gets a go in the Taoiseachs chair in a Coalition govt with FG, they would be mad to agree to that going by this.

Having Micheal as Taoiseach would be laughable at this stage. He has no mandate

I think you'll see a more concerted effort by FG to take the talks down but trying not to take the blame for another election.

Martin is that toxic now he drag the whole lot of them down.

Been discussed on here before but what would the chances of an internal upheaval be, with moves to replace Michaél as leader?

    SF and FF Coalition

This is a poll. A mandate is derived from election results.

I think they have to take notice of two different polls from two different companies, saying the exact same thing about all of them Colonel. They might not say it...but it will be having an impact.

Internal dissent in FF will get bolder and louder. McMurphy might not be too far off the money...popcorn time!

I agree. But FF have always said polls are to be ignored. They typically outperform them.

I doubt dissent is strong enough for a heave. I think there will be a coalition.

Visited that Twitter cesspit this morning, Brendan. The shinnerbots; hammer and sickle crowd, Gemma O’Doherty sorts are all very angry.

This opinion poll seems to have riled them all up.

Very entertaining to read. So much anger. What a wasteful emotion.

Thanks for fulfilling my expectations but not my hopes. ;)

On Facebook this morning Aontu posters giving MM a lashing, Leo getting it too over his park lark while gardai are trying to keep order at beaches and parks this weekend, wondering where they were when Leo wasn't social distancing and picnicing.
