So something that directly protects from respiratory illness in community settings is bad now? And apparently not human. How many were wearing gloves which increase risk? That's probably OK. I honestly dont see how people expect social distancing to be a thing months down the line, it may well be "policy" but in public it's not being adhered to. Images of dublin buses yesterday with more passengers on them than the social distance limits, and it was only day 1

Its a long term prediction. Jan 2021 onwards. The agony from increase in taxes and reduction in public spending will quickly eliminate any of the wishful euphoria of saving lives.

Especially when cancer deaths start to spike. We are at the very start of FG downfall, from here on it only gets worse as more and more actual data about damage (financial and non covid health) caused is released.

I would love to challenge all those who have posted saying this is a mild illness, only a cold, like the flu, or not dangerous to young people etc. to not take the vaccine when / if they provide it.

Well around me they are open... car parks are still shut as the taught process is "if its inside 5km you can walk to them. So no need to have car parks open" again that just in the county I am in

Indoors in public spaces were social distancing is nigh on impossible? Until effective treatments come along that reduce the fatality rates of this virus. I personally think a vaccine is a way off and will be avoided by too many. I'd be dubious myself. The same thing in November and it could be anything, cold, seasonal flu, so more covid cases could be masked(no pun) in the community and spread more because of that.

By the by, though I'm very much in favour of masks as another valuable tool in this fight, I personally can't stand the bloody things, but they clearly seem to make a difference, just like the other risk reducers, so the lesser of two evils. I hate social distancing too. I hate not meeting mates, going into people's gaffs, them coming into mine. It's fcuking surreal, but I do that because it majorly reduces risk. Hand washing, well I do that anyway, but until recently not like a brain surgeon.

Yup. The Czechs the same. Basically any of the western nations who looked to Asian nations and copied them are getting back to life more quickly and have far fewer dead. Ireland only did some of these things and here we are and still not doing what we should be doing.

Maybe this is why the government are dragging their heels? They know they've come at this half arsed and their medical advisers are telling them to take it slow because it's still out in the wild far more than in the above countries? If we do get a "second wave" and christ I hope we don't, it will be 90% down to sh1t governance from the start.

They were off school and will be for what 7/8 months max (Easter Holidays, Summer, Mid Term) prob missed 4 Months actual school.

Mass absenteeism

PS i was referring to flu as cant eradicate a virus. Obviously, even said it mutates changes complexity. Thats why theres new types of flu vaccine coming out so often to tailor against latest version of flu.
