Hi. What's the story with next Monday? People that live within 5km of each other can meet outside but can't visit each others homes?

If measures are approved, that's it alright. Up to 4 people not from same household.

Can find roadmap doc in following link:

R now between 0.4 -0.6 according to Simon Harris.

Hosptial admissions down to average of 15 per day. ICU admissions 1-2 per day
With those numbers I don't see any valid reason as to why phase 1 can't go ahead on Monday. A tad bit of freedom! Roll on phase 1.

What are people's views on the Govt perhaps recommending masks in supermarkets - if community transmission is extremely low right now, after a couple of months of people going to supermarkets without masks, why would you need to wear them now? Even if asymptomatic, community cases are gone at the moment?

Indeed. If those numbers aren't good enough for Phase 1 we have little chance of expanding beyond Phase 1 until the population is vaccinated.

Identified cases are a fraction of the actual number infected. I'll be following the advice.

Where would all these masks come from? I cant seem to find any anywhere except for the price gouging ones on Amazon which probably wouldn't even arrive

Yeah, I'm not sure how you would win any public support for an extension with those numbers. They keep saying let's get the numbers as low as possible. That's pretty low.

Well I can. We don't have quarantine of people entering the country, we don't have an order for everybody to wear facemasks, the results from countries who started to loosen their measures are not good.
If we do quarantine and facemasks then we can move forward but not without those things.

Has there been many supermarket workers getting sick, I haven't heard much of it in the media.

And in what countries are the results not good within the EU who we are comparing ourselves against in terms of restrictions.

Denmark R0.7, Germany currently estimated at 0.81. Neither have had surges since starting the relaxation

Yep, see your point. But even if identified cases are a fraction of the actual number infected, if there are much larger actual amounts of infections, we would presumably still a proportion of these larger numbers of cases ending up in hospital/ICU - but numbers are extremely low.

Looks like they will recommend face coverings as opposed to masks to keep masks for healthcare workers. Can make them at home with fabric if you search on youtube.

Or can buy them from here but they are taking a while to come it looks like:

The HIQA metastudy (from their ptess release https://www.hiqa.ie/hiqa-news-updates/hiqa-publishes-four-evidence-summaries-support-national-response-covid-19 ) indicates “While the evidence is limited, it appears that children are not substantially contributing to the spread of COVID-19 in their household or in schools."

This is a far cry from stating that children are far less infectious.

And yet Ciara Kelly stated REPEATEDLY on her show today that children should go back to school and creche as 'they do not give it to each other, and do not spread it'. How is she allowed to seed such misinformation on a major radion station?

So you want us all to wait while our ****-up of a government scramble to cover their tracks, also what results are you looking at. Its way too early to have any real info yet. South Korea only had 29 new cases yesterday.

They are selling masks in Super Valu at the hilarious price of five euro for one wafer thin cheap mask. Our local pharmacy has them too. They are coming back into stock.

They are also closing down the Croke Park testing centre due to lack of referrals now, so looking positive for Monday. Can't see why we wouldn't be going to phase 1 (Roll on phase 10 please)

just on the topic of a vaccine,

The flu jab has "years of research and development" behind it and there's at least 100 people who developed this condition after it.
I'm curious, how many would take something that companies are reacing to be first to patent?

see below extract from the court case, this girl got millions, Tax payers millions and rightly so but it's the HSE mess all over again.
they made her sign and NDA and did not accept liability...

She said the State Claims Agency had taken a “very adversarial approach” in the case. Her family had no access to legal aid while the defendants had access to “unlimited taxpayers’ monies”.

The trial heard that as part of the conditions for supplying the vaccine, which was brought to market in an expedited process amidst fears of a global swine flu pandemic, the Government agreed to indemnity GSK against any costs that might arise from people alleging damage.

Ms Bennett questioned why the State didn’t follow the approach in the UK where similar claims to her daughter’s were being settled for the past three years.

In the case Ms Bennett claimed she developed narcolepsy and cataplexy disorder as a result of being given the Pandemrix vaccine in school on December 10th, 2009, as part of a nationwide vaccination programme. She was aged 16 at the time, and began to suffer symptoms within weeks.

And you aren't going to have a quarantine for people entering the country so what do you propose - Stage 1 (which is absolutely f..k all change anyway) from December 2021? It might be gone from everywhere by then all we will all be living on the streets with no economy or health care system.

Someone should get her a pair of flip flops.

Survivors of SARS had neurological symptoms down the line so I would watch that space very closely.

Jesus wept - average of 15 admissions per day and 1-2 in ICU (70% approx of which will recover).

Well done NPHET and our pitifully weak government - really did a number on general public. Good luck trying to get anyone indoors together any time soon after the epic scaremongering achieved.

Ridiculous level of damage done to society and economy, and foolish to think they can undo the fear as easily as they generated it.

It's currently believed to be at that level but as soon as the public starts mixing the full extent of community transmission will be more easily seen. Provided we have the capacity to test and trace, which we still don't. So I dunno what you're so chipper about really.

The Air Corps have to fly their aircraft, even if it is just around in circles, in order to keep the crew and plane certified.

My car has not moved in two months and now cannot move until I can buy a new battery. I would not like that to happen to our Learjet. (Well the Gov jet).

The Air Corps has now got a very useful Pilatus single turbine which can land in smaller airfields and can be used for some of this back and forth stuff as they train in crew.
