No I'm not. I think they're all paid too much. But all you seem to be adding to this thread is variations of "He's paid too much" and "I'm glad hes' gone but now we have to pay for his enormous pension".

Yeah we get it, you're bitter and twisted. Give over, please.

A snippet of the Maria Bailey interview was played on Playback this morning.

    One of the better ones!

I missed Oliver Callan yesterday (can't stand him usually, so turned over immediately he started), they played that as well - he was brilliant!

Definite case of dog with bone going on here

Going back quite a while now, does anybody remember the interview Sean did with the late Colm Murray? It doesn't appear to be available on RTE's website any more but it was great. It was obvious that the pair of them were good friends and the easy conversation between them was a joy. Of course, it's made all the more poignant when we know what happened to Colm Murray but it was a lovely hour of radio.

Attention seeker Robert, trying to defend what is plainly obvious.

Just keep horsing out the truth, they usually get tired.

Nobody really too concerned, just pointing out the futility of hacks trying to make a name for themselves on the hard work of others and shilling a bunch of folk who couldn’t organise or run the planting of a small flower bed.

Does this thread retire with SOR? Or does it continue for the summer as the show will still be today?

Apparently Joe Duffy is 65 next January. Will he go quietly?

Is he staff or contractor? I think the retirement issue is only there for staff. Plus aren't they changing that rule anyway?

Contractor. Claddaghgreen Ltd. Poor chap gets no holiday pay or pension. He'll have to stay on till he's 80.

I think it should be re-named.
Little point in having Sean's name on it when he is gone.

Maybe rename it and keep it going until Sean's permanent replacement is announced? I think the new show should have its own thread when the time comes.

They might go with a working title until the permanent person is announced.
    Agree re. thread.
By the way if any mods reading Ciara Kelly thread should be re-opened.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,709 ✭✭✭Tork

I'll not be tuning in as regularly then.

But at least its not Miriam ..... I wouldn't have tuned in at all in that case.

Any chance some innovative person in RTE would come up with a new theme tune for the show as the current one is still that used in PK's days?

You'd need a committee for that and lots of meetings..

Bit of a stilted start to this morning.

How about the Titanic theme for all of Rte. Tis sinking like a stone ! !

Her voice puts me to sleep.

Bit bland really. Not sure that she could ask the hard questions when needed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,342 ✭✭✭Mav11

    Actually, very bland.

Sounds like its turning into RTE's version of Woman's Hour. :)

    I'm off to Pat Kenny.

    Yeh, I agree.
No problem letting her settle in...but she will need to let off some fireworks as I am finding myself zoning out. It's not a 'voice made for radio', that's a bit ominous tbh,

I like Sarah McInerney. I hope she does well.

We agree on something Francie....a first ?

Not a voice for Radio...although the experts in Montrose obviously do not share your view. ?

See below ..I think "The Nev" gave another correct call !

    Posted 3 days ago !

Nah! McInerney much too lightweight...no gravitas ...just a shrill voice trying too hard .

Not good enough in this posters opinion...
