I actually found Leos speech quite emotional.....it might be just me

    Not me. Not this time.

    Just OTT with the cliches....

Spit it out, Leo. Clear, firm, measured and considered...

A good speaker should not have to resort to these kind of cringe cliches...

He spoke better the last time but he has been excellent on Brexit and Covid

Probably none of the above, must listen back to the brexit speeches and see. thanks.

I'm so bloody sick of the lockdown, and i really hate that its been extended.

But it's the right call. I won't die having to stay home another few weeks, but people sure as **** would die if restrictions were stopped now. It'll be an unpopular decision for a lot of people, but its one that was needed.

Agreed; it's better to be safe than sory

    No it's not

You can't drive to a location to exercise. That 5KM is your exercise area

That means no driving. You cannot go for a drive withing the 5km.

its the over 70s who were cocooning, they can now leave to exercise OR go for a drive, (or presumably both) within 5km of their home, if they avoid all contact with other people

Yeah do you have a mega phone I can borrow. Just because you're grand with your situation doesn't mean everybody else is. It's not just 2 or 3 more weeks, we have already had 7. People are fed up, people need to work, go see loved ones. But your grand so bully for you.

You can drive within the 5km and then exercise provided the exercise doesn't take you beyond the 5km. That was made perfectly clear when the limit was 2km.

So on the 18th, can we travel anywhere yeah? No mention of it. Or of the other 5 stages. What a terrible announcement.
He literally said they're discussing that tomorrow. Did you even watch?

I keep reminding people we shut the schools there were just 29 new cases in one day. On the 28th of March we had 259 new cases and 14 deaths. Some argue this happened too late.

Granted numbers are on the down now instead of up back then, but it gives any idea how low things need to get.

    I am grand...

    Get over yourself...

Moaning about it won’t change it. Start accepting that this is how a civilised and democratic society operates...

    Quit the whining!!

You can go for a walk , OR a v drive within the 5km, once you maintain social distancing.

You can go for a walk yes. Or a jog, a run or a cycle once you remain withing 5km of your home

You cannot just go for a drive and think it's alright because you're withing 5km

That drive was only put there for the elderly to help them get out of the house not for anyone under 70

Listen to what he said lads.

If people are hearing the instructions incorrectly then the gardai are going to be busy sending people home from national parks / walks etc again

George lee just said on RTE that of the 1265 deaths less than 100 are under 65!!
that's 7% ish. Of that 7% I wonder how many have underlying issues and how far under 65 they are. of the remaining 93%! how many are so far over 65 as to be in their 80's I wonder. Also of that 93% how many are in care homes!!!

I'm really surprised at those numbers.

It's also diabetes or heart issues or even asthma

Presumably, people with those conditions have also been cocooning. I mentioned cystic fibrosis as an example of a serious underlying condition.

Care homes are under 50% of deaths.

Yeah and it's not like the under 40s can pass it on directly or indirectly to those who are vulnerable or elderly and massively exacerbate it... Oh hang on....

    Genius.

Well they should be cocooning or isolating. Idiotic to suggest they should be doing anything eose.

They hypocrisy of the government is that it called on voters in the run-up to the referendum on repealing the 8th amendment to "trust women", but it doesn't trust people to avoid close contact with those whose lives would be endangered by the virus.
