That's in a week with apparently some help from Germany - how that translates in to rapid testing, I've no idea.

It looks as if the man's brains are being dug out. Has anyone here got a covid19 test done? Is this how deep they go?

That was my party trick when I was a teenager. Could make a teaspoon disappear up my nose. It doesn't go near the brain.

Some good news. Those recovered patients that tested positive again in South Korea. The results were likely caused by the tests detecting dead fragments of the virus.

    Woo-hoo. 😁

More good news. We all survived today. The large aestroid due to pass earth this morning, didn't smash into us.

That's frightening. We need to get rid of this thing. We have to quarantine incoming people. We have to wear masks and stay locked down until we get to zero cases and then continue to enforce quarantine.

They are considering face masks but also said it won't be compulsory. Have you ever heard such sh!t? We're awful at dealing with this thing. But not making mask wearing or face covering mandatory is an absolute joke. Other countries are fining people for not wearing them in public but ourselves "only if you want to"... From what I can see new case numbers below 100 and being able to do 100000 tests a day which IMO is a fairly good way of dealing with this, we need to be able to manage and limit its spread and prevent another surge until they can develop a vaccine to treat the most vunerable.

Thing is some people are getting a bit of "cabin fever" from all this atm but I can see the next thing people giving out about is being unable to fly on their holiboppers I dont think were gonna see a return to normality until at least next year.

Well it would help if they gave some actual numbers they're looking for, not just some generic comments. Maybe they have stated those numbers but I haven't seen them published anywhere.

I know they've said 100,000 tests recently but they've said a lot about testing over the past 6 weeks that they haven't been able to back up.

My partner had one done. She said the nasal swab is a little uncomfortable but that's all. She would happily have one again.

I have. They go deep but nothing like that. Mine was fairly easy but others in our place had a bit of a rougher time. It really depends on who is doing it. Bit like blood tests, some are just more proficient in taking blood than others.

Can't be any worse than having a camera up your nose to check sinus issues :D

Exactly. I pretty sure the flu swab is the same.

I was tested. Would agree, mildly uncomfortable but nothing more than that and not sore afterwards or anything. Certainly not something to be worried about

Being able to track and trace all cases is a critical element of what should be done before relaxation. We are testing more per capita than South Korea but they have far fewer cases because they have the ability to manage the information , track and trace and get quick turn around tests. We still dont have an app.

Any sign of Runaways these days, he had a test done at the starting of the first Covid thread I think when it was in Afterhours.

My father had the test done twice, he said it was just a quick swab and wasn't too bad at all.

(He was hospitalised with pneumonia last week, so obviously they suspected Covid-19, but he tested negative - then they re-tested a few days later, again negative, and he has been released since)

Imagine this virus being around at the same time as the annual winter bug. Hospitals at capacity.
Half the country gets the flu or a cold every winter. They wouldn't know who has what without testing and self isolating everyone with a cough or sniffle.

Imagine having to lockdown again. Take over private hospitals again. Paying those out of work again. Second shock to the economy. Second shock to businesses. Second shock to the elderly.

Who's to say it won't happen

I have undergone 5 tests, they weren’t as dramatic or as painful as that.
