They're not happy with nursing homes and long term care settings. It's in the statement from this evening.

Dont think they should be using that as a reason to keep the general population under the same restrictions though

True. If you took the nursing homes out of the equation we have actually being doing quiet well. Our ICU and hospitalisations figures show that. Our community transmission is now non-existent.

need more testing & cases less than 100 a day to ease restrictions.

Just one day as well. But good to see them going down
Looser case definition from today so good test of the system.

I really think the "We're not in lockdown/Yes we are/No we're not" tit for tat should be banned from the thread. Sick of reading it, it adds nothing to the thread. Just a thought.

Generally they get threadbanned from this thread fairly quick.

Kildare now has more confirmed cases then cork

The Pale has generally got the worst numbers hasn't it?

Or maintain them in Greater Dublin, but ease them elsewhere?

Nope, look at border areas, wont happen by region now

Restrictions likely to be extended based on what CMO saying. Unless there's a significant change at least.

I note with interest that New Zealand is declaring community transmission of coronavirus at zero and easing some restrictions, having implemented a travel ban and quarantine for all visitors right from the outset

Also note with interest that back in the early days of this ****show the original Corvid-19 thread was full of idiots who shouted down any suggestion that Ireland should do something similar...

New Zealand were more than a week later introducing any measures than we were. Geographic factors have helped them massively.

Not true. 2 says ago we had 500+ community transmission cases. People have been getting far too complacent in recent days.

You must be having a laugh.

How about we let Spain do what they're doing and stay in semi-lockdown mode like we are now for another four to five weeks and see what the second wave is like.

Little bit more positive number of cases today

Hope we can get them lower

I used to pay extreme attention to the daily reported case numbers, but I don't think they matter as much as numbers of hospital add missions, ICU admissions and deaths.

It jumps around so much from day to day, I don't think its a true reflection of real time rates of infection, more an educated stab in the dark and the numbers as much reflect testing methods, testing capacity and who and where they have decided to focus their testing.

I would say the seismic shockwave from heads exploding in Dublin if restrictions were maintained there and let up elsewhere would rip a hole in the fabric of the Universe.

Chambers asked about restrictions in the Nursing homes on March 7th. Fair play to him. A proper question finally

So basically because of nursing home and long term care settings, which is indicative of the non action early on means we probably won't be seeing a lifting of much if anything.

ICU numbers of around 130 still to high also.

They really f*cked up on the nursing homes. Saw the other night Vickey Phelan saying this is going to turn into another inquiry and people need to answer for what has happened.

The man on the telly, sitting at the table in the DOH, has just explained why it is more likely that they will remain in place.

Did a journalist just ask CMO about holding a wedding...????? Totally justified to fire the microphone at him...bellend

    Who the hell is she?

Trying to justify not putting measures in earlier in nursing homes, the most vulnerable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,172 ✭✭✭wadacrack

The social impact of restrictions being too early in the nursing homes? What utterly bizarre logic. The impact of a dead loved one much worse.

Some decent questions for once, there needs to be a serious investigation into the nursing home fiasco

And not only their death, but on HOW they were left to die, too. Much different dying of respiratory failure/sepsis/whathaveyou while being completely knocked out and not.

It's the usual CMO as we stand answer. He then went on to say it's another seven days!

It would be impossible to enforce and could actually kick start a far greater migration out of the capital than any easing of restrictions would.

At that time. It was all about a managed approach all round.
