Who knows, that would be positive if the case although you would think there would be some reference to other business and trades etc.

    Who knows?

Lots of sites are already open.

That computer screen snap looks like bullsh1t to me though.
Childcare services reopening for essential workers for instance, very spoofy.

If they try to extend the lockdown for another month, I simply don't see the restrictions getting followed.

Any longer than a month, we should really be considering a referendum. We do still live in a democracy, right?

My understanding is that the above document is fake. Worth noting also that members of the government have said a couple of times that any easing of restrictions would take place at 2-3 week intervals, as has been planned in other countries.

    Fake memo is fake.

If so I want them to know this is no good for me.
I would like to be able to go back to the office once or twice a week where it is totally possible for me to maintain social distancing.

I have spent the last 3 years building up a business which is on the verge of dying if lockdown goes on much longer.
If we can even be seen to be reopening a little it will give customers confidence that Ireland might go back to some time in the not too distant future.

Even being able to report to clients that I am writing from the office would give a great boost.

Restrictions won't work on their own. We need progress on testing and contact tracing . PR promises talking about " ramping up " are not a substitution for action . We are still hearing about people waiting weeks for results by which time contact chasing is a waste of time .

    Lockdown is an evil policy.

The only question is whether it is a "necessary evil".

    A referendum on what exactly?

I was in a business park today which has all types of businesses, and all were open, builders working there as well. They may not necessarily have let any Joe Soap walk into their premises, and I'm sure they were all taking the necessary hygiene precautions, but they were all working. People won't be held to ransom, they will get on with things and return to work.

Our government is totally reactionary and depending on the success and bravery of other countries to make any kind of decisions.

I don't really see how that's a bad thing. First of all, covid-19 is new and unknown and the guidelines are constantly changing. You can't give a plan for the next six weeks because we don't know what will happen in those weeks, every government is forced to be reactionary in a situation like this.

It 100% makes sense to look at what other countries are doing and follow suit if their decisions worked for them. We were able to see the affects of an extreme lockdown in China hence why so many countries are doing it now.

what sort of range of businesses out of interest?

pure office work or more hands-on stuff?

Leo had the masses eating out of the palm of his hand when he spoke of real heroes not wearing capes in that soppy address of the nation all those weeks back. If he comes out to face us all again on May 5 and increases the lockdown for another 3-4 weeks the only costume he should be wearing is Dick Turpins as he'll be robbing us of our freedom. Enough is enough. Most of us have abided by the rules up to now. Time to start easing restrictions with a detailed plan as to when each sector may open up depending on how well our health service is coping. Our government is totally reactionary and depending on the success and bravery of other countries to make any kind of decisions. Italy, the country that was riddled with this disease, has announced a plan to reopen most secors of the economy over the next month. Leo grow a pair and stop hiding and waiting for others to lead the way. Release the countries pressure valve and let us breath again. Give us some hope.

I wonder why everyone is gravitating towards Italy all of a sudden when they were the worst at 1 stage is it because they mentioned pubs been opened quickly. What have other countries said about them.

Look I agree stuff needs to be eased by next Monday but unfortunately it will be not what you want. Shops will be able to open with an eye on staggering people going in to them. Construction will start with safety precautions such as masks etc having to be worn maybe even full masks

Pubs and clubs I am afraid will be months down the line. We are not the same as Italy in our pub culture if we were I be fully up in a month or so in them opening up but unfortunately I do not see people going to a pub and sitting down and not moving around, does not happen here unless its an "old man pub"

It's very easy to give a plan with conditions as other countries have done.

    e.g. On 5th may we will open a, b, c
If new cases, deaths, ICU number don't rise above x,y,z then on 19th May we will open d,e,f

    etc, etc.

Half the world are taking similar or more severe approaches but never mind that, this is all a ploy from Leo to take away our freedom.

I don't know how some people on here get dressed in the morning, never mind figure out how to use a computer.

Exactly sure it'll be grand, let the normies do as they're entitled to..

They're not vulnerable or old... it's them we're alright Jack fck the rest.

Two more weeks of lockdown shouldn't be a problem, then maybe let people out on their own in car's to go on drive's or get some sea air, then incrementally start easing the restrictions..

No point in opening the dam fully when it's about to burst the banks and flood the low lands.

Gradually and it'll all be ok....patience is a virtue.

This is hard on people I know but it'll pass and everybody's in the same boat.

    There's no discrimination.

I'm an avid surfer 15 minutes from Fanore and I am coping ok it's a long winter and I'll be definitely on a 3 day week until this time next year.

There's plenty of time, give time time.

You also can't assume that what works in other countries would work for us. Copying isn't a solution, decisions based on modelling that takes into account how our population is distributed, age profile, health service capacity etc.

They also need to weigh up the pro and cons of various restrictions in terms of their effectiveness / negative impacts to society.

If that was to be true I would find it difficult to take. A month seems excessive for what are such minor changes. I have been obedient of the restrictions so far but if they were to announce that ahead of May 5th I can say with certainty that I would end up breaking some of the restrictions.
I know people are saying it is fake, but I find this screenshot very plausible. Just missing a reference to construction sites and possibly certain outdoor sports.

A month is reasonable unfortunately with this virus - it's about a month from the time you make a change to the point at which deaths are peaking.

We can't be making changes every week, there isn't enough time to see the impact. If we get this wrong we'll suddenly have full restrictions re-imposed, and that would be very damaging to confidence and morale.

All those business could have been doing that from day one the thing was it was uneconomical until now as the restrictions will be eased soon (May 5th)

Yeah I suppose your moronic ideas about national debt and borrowing would make them lose hope in the education system.

Yeah I'm still gobsmacked that an adult can seriously have that little knowledge of the economy and national debt.

Just went down the street and one of the barbers is open with a chair outside cutting peoples hair.
It's Mavericks like that we need shaping lockdown policy.

Great to hear it. Now if only the useless Gardai could find something useful to do rather than visiting aul ones with birthday cakes we’d be away

The Gardai are starting an operation tomorrow at 7am which they say will be even bigger than the Easter one. They will be targeting tourist areas & smaller roads to prevent people avoiding the checkpoints. Meanwhile feel free to carry on with your street party, soccer game, traveller wedding, or driving down from the North.

They have had vast resources flung at them for little reason. Stands to reason they have to make up something to do to justify their existence
