I'd go a step further depending on the kids ages, that you are showing them that they don't have to listen to rules or regulations if they really want to do something then do it... whether legal or not

There will be no Leaving Cert sat this summer. How the Colleges will deal with a double input next year is beyond me. Dont lets cod ourselves. This thing is here for a good while yet. 40 odd died yesterday and the same today, It was about around the 30 mark daily for the previous few days. Batten down the hatches Folks, I am no expert but facts are facts. Suck it up.

This is interesting, no we have all been very strict. No visiting houses. I'm talking about sitting out the back having a chat and yes maybe get to hug the nephews and nieces.

That article in the Sunday Times is really interesting. If they'd locked down a few weeks earlier, they likely would be looking at opening back up around now, with nowhere near the number of cases and deaths. Imagine if they'd nipped it in the bud back when cases were in single or low double figures, as a preventative measure. Like I would say my area is strict - but there are still people ringing the door bell and then standing at the gates having the chats - more than 2m apart - same with meeting someone randomly on the road - you stay well away. Social distancing etc.

None of these people are going into house for chats or hugging etc - but there is still an interaction - all within the 2km radius.

Yeah I never thought about something like that, although the risk is still there with the gown and hairdryers blowing germs all around the room. It's very hard to imagine how it'll work. I was thinking something along the lines of what this funeral home worker is wearing (Not a great story but I just saw the pic (https://www.rte.ie/news/world/2020/0418/1132381-covid-montreal-care-home/

That along with some sort of disposal poncho for the lad to wear, and then you have mask and gloves - and then you probably good to go if you think about it.

As much as I would love a hot towel shave now I don't think that's going to be happening.

The deaths announced each day didn't occur all on that day, they've been reported that day, peak deaths as per a chart yesterday was about 11 days ago.

Look at other countries, the death rate unfortunately will be the last thing to fall to low numbers

It is according to graphs posted yesterday. The daily figures include deaths from the past.

I think it will be irresponsible to break the rules now, especially that we are 2 weeks away from hearing from the government on the next steps.
Some of my neighbors meet their family members, all within the 2 meters as the family member stays in the car and my neighbor at the gate of their house, they both benefit from the safety of the 2 meters distance all while having a chat. It is not ideal but it's a way to keep in touch.
I genuinely wish the best of luck to all those suffering from these restrictions, but they have been put in place for a good reason which is first and foremost our own safety.

You first post few hours was very honest and moving, your business is closed but you were thinking first and foremost of your safety and that of your customers, for that I take my hat off to you sir!!

Ace2007 put forward some very genuine and interesting solutions, but I do believe that the government must and should give proper guidance, to all businesses on what measures to put in place before opening up. I truly and genuinely wish you the very best of luck!!

Will the schools reopen in 3 weeks, seems crazy to leave them closed any longer than that. They never closed in Sweden and now they have less cases than us. Surely they will reopen and get the economy moving again.

Well schools were officially off for the last two weeks anyway. If you're suggesting schools go back it basically means everyone will have more contacts again, not sure you're thinking of the logistics of social distancing. I would love for life to go back to normal but when it comes to this virus spreading, schools are going to be a problem.

I think the timelines are all provisional also. We didn't expect our lives to be in lockdown a month or so ago, they're probably wrong to even make a guess right now on it.

Schools are already back in Denmark, looks like UK back in May. Germany also going back, We should be going back too. No evidence to show that children are super spreaders.

It's not really that they're superspreaders its that social distancing is basically impossible in irish schools. Saw the guidelines they're enforcing in Denmark within the schools and can't see them being possible here. Hygiene standards another huge issue. If they go back then the social distancing is basically done as every child will have been around so many children then going home and is with their families, siblings from all different classes mixing etc. I want normal life back asap but schools going back will only make the whole situation worse I think. Countries planning it still haven't seen the effects yet, this is all very new to us still.

Absolutely no chance they open. Education system will be focused on getting the leaving cert done and that will be that. September at best for everyone else.
