He has a point, my sister works in a Nursing home and gets 350ish a week. Its not really fair that she is risking infecting our elderly parents for a pittance while others are sitting at home on the same money, crazy.

The welfare system should be linked to what you paid in! Properly run countries have such a system , the e350 blanket payment , wasnt the smartest move, but they are a hell of a lot more entitled to it and it's a pittance to what they will throw at Margaret cash every week ....

How is her risking her own and our parents health fair? Its not, I;m sure she would love to swap her 39 hour week to sit at home but she can't.

So what’s the alternative, doctors, nurses, carers don’t go do their jobs ? Gardai, Army the same ? They are not risking their health, there is an increased risk yes, I feel for her, colleagues, family friends etc... the alternative is leaving vulnerable patients / residents alone... ?

How does the post office work at the moment? Can I use "Click and Post" to drop off a parcel? Usually I go there with the pre-printed label attached to the box, the lady scans it in with a barcode gun and then I drop it in the corner of the room with other parcels. I need to send something to USA.

The An Post website doesn't say which services are available and which are not. Is it only open to old people who collect their pension in cash or can you drop parcels?

Here's the post again, for your benefit and everyone else's. I have conveniently highlighted the part where you suggest lifting restrictions in July.

Can you highlight the bit where you explain why July makes more sense than May? For the benefit of the rest of us who are unfortunately having trouble keeping up with your thinking.

It is easier to complain and pick out problems with other peoples ideas then it is to give your own. So some people won't give there own ideas or when they finally do refuse to discuss them further. It's akin to shouting and moaning from the sidelines and then refusing to go on the pitch yourself.

An argument for July would be we're likely to have the ability to have increased testing by then.

But equally as I pointed out to you earlier on some people idea' is to lock the vulnerable away until a vaccine is found

I've a lot of hobbies, cannot do them at the moment unfortunately as they all involve being outside and/or else being with other people. I'd ask you the same question, since you must've been on boards just as much as me to see so much of my name, but it is terrible off topic. :)

Anyone else reckon the barbers reopen on May 5th? Contemplating shaving the lot off, but if it’s only until May I might hold off.

I'm a barber myself and if we were told to reopen I think it'd be very irresponsible of the government
As cross contamination is fairly high in our profession.

Imagine one person gets his hair cut and he is asymptomatic he is using the same gown as the next person sits on the chair infecting him and 50 other odd lads in for a fresh fade
The same clippers, comb, the close contact for both the barber and the clients completely removing social distancing, which would deem the whole lockdown a waste of time.
Unless of course the government can put in place some kind of ppe for barbers and masks for customers.

But they are running low on ppe globally, its very hard to call, I'd love to be back cutting hair by then but I also know the risks involved and would rather not open and have an outbreak when there is no real guidance in place yet.

Poster come and go - the latest for instance would be this person - and you can't take his words any other way,

I'd be for paying these staff that are keeping the place running extra first and foremost. The lockdown can go on to May as planned. It has to end then though, keep the at risk locked away, everyone else back to reality.

I was thinking about make up artists etc the other day, and you think of like weddings, even a very small wedding, a bride would want some sort of make up. Do you think that cosmetic brands will try to come up with some sort of shield that can be applied to the face, which can then allow make up to be applied by an expert. And hence something similar could be worn by those getting a hair cut - like a shield/mask

Just wash hands thoroughly before and after.

Within 2m of someone for 15 mins isn't recommended.

We have decided that after next week we are including family in people we can visit. What's an extra few people. This **** is miserable.

Why wait to after next week - why not tomorrow?

Reports in tomorrow's papers that UK schools will start going back on May 11th like France.

We just decided we will give it another week and if things continue to decrease as they are we are going to.

Sounds like you’ll do it regardless of what happens over the next week.

Not true, we all live within 2km of each other. It's tough on the kids.

It's absolutely terrifying how this is being dealt with in the UK. Why on earth would they ever decide to do that? It's nearing the end of the academic year anyway, students have been off school for weeks and exams are messed up now. Why would you ever take an enormous risk like this after the sacrifices people are making to stay home? It's nowhere near time to reopen schools again here.

Half are and the other half arent. People are fed up with these restrictions. You should be allowed to meet with family

I'm sure healthcare workers are fed up as well, but they still have to stick by the rules.

Schooling runs into July across the water
A weird decision none the less
