If they are using VoIP you could use a computer and headset to do this. It would be more of an issue around access to data I assume.

    Yeah fair enough.

Been following this thread with interest. Would agree with the temp FL ban in general, though I would expect that common sense will prevail and the ban will either be lifted pretty quickly or local management will use discretion in specific instances.

I think the main change is that you can't build up flexi time, not so much the flexible hours aspect, which is understandable enough. It makes sense - you could potentially have people who are even a bit quieter workloadwise atm saying they are working up 2 hours flex a day otherwise!

    Yeah fair enough.

On forsas website it’s saying that contact tracing can be done remotely 🤔

Does the HSE and DSP actually need more temp staff. You would have thought they would have had all positions covered by now. If they do what would be the turn around time from filling out the PAS questionnaire to being assigned a position?

Staff in my section who completed the online training for contact tracing over 2 weeks ago have still not been called.

I know my department is having IT issues with being able to make remote working available to all staff. They weren't prepared for having to provide remote access for everyone at short notice, though they are working on it.

noone can apply voluntarily - you are selected by management and then you complete a questionnaire

I understood, you could apply without management selecting you.

The original scheme a few weeks ago, was a call for volunteers.

Now each individual department is deciding who they can release, and then instructing those selected to fill in the PAS forms.

But if someone feels they want to volunteer I'm sure their HR department would consider it.

wow there is so much disparity across the public sector.

we are not being selected/offered at this time the opportunity to redeploy. Not just my section my whole area. No volunteering and noone being put forward to be selected.

    aghhhhhh

Jobs are so different across the service. Some are essential at this time, some aren’t. Location too is important.
I know people who were redeployed, trained in contact tracing, and then told their services weren’t required.
It’s not like this crisis was planned.
Situation is evolving every hour, never mind every day.
    Have you particular pertinent skills?

not sure what skills are pertinent....but it is not just me. it is my whole area across ireland havent been selected.

maybe it will happen in the future

Forsa told us we could volunteer, speak to HR and manager first about it.

Tony Holohan said during the week they will always take volunteers for contact tracing too
