Imagine it is survey work, same as the posts yesterday.

Crew currency training, I'd say. Other air arms are doing similar.

Government jet (LJ45) circling Cork city at the moment. Jet left Baldonnel, so assuming it's the Govt jet....

Doing the same thing around Donegal now.

Survey work, some day for it.

Is it unusual for a jet doing that type of work?

This is a roundtrip for the crew, so close to 40 hours duty

There's a lot of confusion at the moment on FR24 with where flight are going and where FR thinks they are going, due to the number of extra or reorganised flights that are happening, particularly with cargo operations.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Is it not strange to have a motor glider, OY-SGX, flying at 3am in Denmark ? Surely it must be dark there, are gliders equipped for night time flying ?

There's currently an Irish Air Corps CASA 235 over Brest France heading NW. What would be the reason to be hat far south?

Because you haven’t included a screenshot any reply will be a guess. Unless the poster has inside knowledge. In future if possible include a screenshot or at least look and see where the aircraft came from or with limited tracking info was it low level where had it roughly come from etc. FR24 doesn’t have the aircrafts history for review so it is impossible to say. Saying it is over Brest heading NW is scant information to work off of sorry. The only thing I can suggest is watch the IAC social media accounts over the next few days and they may post some information about the mission or what they have been up to.

What it was doing could have been any of the possible roles that the aircraft fulfils for the IAC.

Why would the IAC Pilatus PC-12 perform a touch-and-go in Birmingham, out of interest?

The PC-12 is a new type for the Air Corps and three more are on order. X280 was delivered about 2 weeks ago and has been very busy doing crew training ever since. Up to that, the Air Corps had been using a different PC-12 (a Pilatus loan/hire ?) for several weeks, also for crew training. Since X280 was delivered, they've been going hell for leather with the pilot training. I notice it leaving Luxembourg just now, heading back home I assume. The PC-12 is a fine airplane but not the fastest for such long journeys.

    Because they can :D

The lack of commercial traffic at the moment means they can go to places that would normally not be overly receptive to training flights, and it's giving the people that are completing training or adding extra type ratings a much better level of experience than just going to the limited choices around Ireland, which has to be worth doing.

If nothing else, talking to air traffic controllers that don't have Irish accents won't be doing any harm, and going to places they don't normally go will be helping to widen their experience, as that's what will happen more often with the move to CASA or jet types, which go further afield on a regular basis :)

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

I was on a PC not a phone. Couldn't tell where the aircraft came from as there was no track, it was at FL300. Happy?

The site i was using said FL300, like the man in the orthopedic shoes i stand corrected.

    As per IAC twitter page
In the early hours of this morning IRL252 completed the repatriation of Irish @eutmmali1 @defenceforces personnel from Madrid

Special thanks to @spairforce for assisting in the initial leg of the air-bridge mission from Mali to Spain

Looks likely, went straight from Runway to close to one of the 300 gates, not sure if it's on the gate or close, but no stop for inspection by emergency vehicles, straight in to gate, led by one of the OPS vehicles.

Possible stroke on board is why it came straight in on 10

I see the French are also using the AN225 to import medical supplies from China.

There was another IL-76 RA-76511 YQX-MST. It past your RA-76503 ATH-SNN north of Cardiff. To add I noted a third IL-76. I didn't realise until later that it was in my screenshot of the AN225. Silkway Airlines 4K-AZ100. The most southerly aircraft heading south. There was no origin or destination.

Must be carrying some serious weight so, the distance is under the maximum weight range, if it was lighter, the range is a lot further. Reminiscent of the days when that hop (or Goose and St Johns) was the the standard for Atlantic crossings, but it was quite some time ago :D

You think it's just in to re-fuel so?

There has been a Ravenair (RVR7RE) from Liverpool circling just south of Dublin airport for about an hour.

Looks like it's heading back off over the Irish Sea again now.

Any ideas what he was up to? :/
