We were short on regents, which are Proprietary, not like we can just give one of the pharmaceutical companies the recipe to make it up.
BTW, Uzbekistan are testing at 0.83% and Venezuela at 0.12% positive rate.
Basically wasting tests, you think that's who we should aspire to?
Even Germany are worried about their mass testing with low positive rate, worrying about running out of tests.

Those are all buzz words potential voters like to hear from their current president in the height of a devastating crisis.
Positive, congratulatory, celebratory, comforting hopeful ....what do you want him to do? Walk out there and fall on his knees, throw his hands in the air and cry to the skies, “we're all gonna die!!!!”?

The other half was on the phone to the sister earlier this evening - the sister told her there is now an alcohol ban in place til next Wednesday (she would be one for a bottle or crate of wine and apparently the store she went to had none left and they told her this news)

Foreign companies, sure, but Irish clean room staff, Irish scientists, Irish quality assurance staff, Irish medics and RNs, Irish drug safety specialists, Irish regulatory affairs specialists, Irish clinical data and clinical research staff, Irish senior management, Irish executive management.

I've worked between pharma and research labs in Ireland for about 15 years. It's 80% Irish people, trained in Irish schools and universities. We're far better than you're suggesting.

Most countries have been caught with their pants down on this pandemic. We're not doing too bad. Could be much better, sure, but don't denigrate us based on your ignorance of the reality of the life science sector in Ireland, please.

Could be allergies? Mine have kicked in lately causing post nasal drip and a sore throat/urge to cough.

Or you could have picked something up while out shopping even if you only went once or twice. All it takes is walking into one persons invisible virus cloud left behind after they cough.

We really need these serology tests to become highly accurate so that immunity passports can be provided with confidence. That will get us off this phase, hopefully.

At least we have the test centers and process setup already. Obviously needs to be fine tuned, but the system is in place.

We just need to get over this curve, slowly get back to a new normal, maintaining social distancing, cough etiquette. When case numbers rise, and they will, it should be at a much slower pace. Testing should be improved and rapid, with contract tracing, to help suppress it more. Which should mean people can still work and get paid, shop, go for a longer walk, but that's it I think. See how that goes and then come September, obviously the schools will have to open.
