I'm at a loss to what the figures ( dead ,+,ICU ) actually mean. Are we on better, worse or the same as Spain and Italy?
We are doing a lot lot better than both of those but we haven't hit the worst of it.

You can walk 100 kms within a 2km radius if you like. Its just that you must stay within 2km radius of your house.

But again they said brief exercise so dont actually do 100kms.

    TCD students....;)

How are you at a greater risk of contracting the virus if you bend the 2km rule?

It’s actually incredible the amount of stupidity you come across. Just listen and read the articles.

    There's your problem.

The 2km thing is to stop muppets crowding each other.

The most serious measure is over 70s have to stay in.

That is a tough one to take.

    Why?

I switched off before he got to that exact point but are they allowed to go do shopping and that?

A bit of me feels that it is how it is - I have said a lot here that we are stuck at home for 2 weeks with 3 small kids now, and I really noticed the absolute lack of kids anywhere the few times we have gone down the road. Why is it so tough to ask over 70s to stay in when we have been doing it already??? I genuinely am asking that question by the way, I am not being smart. It is for their direct benefit mainly.

My OH just pointed out this now may mean he will have to go do the shopping for his parents, which basically exposes him to more time spent in shops. (online shopping is booked out for weeks around here so it is not possible)

That's really annoying though and ridiculous. How are they possibly gonna enforce it: stop people in the middle of a jog and ask them how far away they live?
I'm all for restrictions but I wont be changing my jogging routines

Seriously?? That’s the most selfish thing I’ve heard in ages. Don’t you know anything about what’s going on?

Yeah, it's been like Picadilly Circus in the forest park beside me this last couple of weeks. Normally you might see 1 or 2 an evening.

Same our way. We can be pretty sure now that anyone who daytrips to the local forestry (unless they are a local) has breached the 2km rule. But... with nobody to enforce then why does it matter?

I feel like they tried to squeeze the last bit of juice into the economy before doing this unfortuantely.

This should of been done 10 days ago.

To be fair they may have wanted to introduce measures gradually to prevent panic.

It was only 2 weeks ago when people lost the plot in supermarkets because they heard schools were closing, imagine what would have happened then if they were told it was a full lockdown from midnight.

    Right so.....sorry to ask.

As regards testing. I know personally of a number of people who definitely had it but their test was cancelled. One improved thankfully but one is getting another test on Monday as still bad at home.

Then you don't know they definitely had it.

I weep for the lack of common sense on this thread, if you go for a long run every day, just start it it at your house or wherever the nearest safe starting point is. They are only going to enforce when people are acting the maggot.

It is to stop people from maynooth deciding that the only place for their little tykes exercise this weekend is the Waterford Greenway or carrantouhil.

Like online, in real life, the best rule is Don't be a dick.
