I don't care what happened in the past 10 years, you quite happily went along with the guidelines at the time ya big edgelord ya.

You agreed that what you were told was OK despite all the evidence disagreeing with it. Pints were more important to you than keeping your distance.

Don't think you know what edgelord means buddy. Following the rules isn't the actions of an "edgelord". :pac::pac::pac:

    "Scaremongering" you said.

    Times I said scaremongering: 0.

    Bravo.

My point being; Amazing the way headaches like Briexit & Global warming have faded into the background, while Covid-19 has emerged from the background into the HEADLINE news while Brexit & Global warming have faded away.
    ...for the time being anyway.

You should read up on Venice and the changes noted since the lockdown.

Yes, when your house is on fire you tend to stop focusing on the bigger picture, which of course means it was all just a big overreaction, right?

Overaction, God no of course not. But it has certainly made Brexit & global warming fade into the background, for the time being.

6 people in the pub and you described it as a Christmas Eve vibe? Weird way to characterize it. You called the reaction to Covid "scaremongering" in that very post. Maybe you meant everyone's reaction except the government. You weren't very specific. Maybe you should consider your words more carefully when the stakes are high though.

When did I describe the 15th as a Christmas Eve vibe?? Ye lads are tying yourself in knots trying to get one up on me. Such anger for calling out Simple Simon and Leo Varadkardashian.

Just back from the pub there. Last few pints until this blows over. Great craic and good to see people spirits up despite all the scaremongering. Was an almost Xmas eve feel.

When are we expecting the next generic speech from our fearless leader?

    What's the point of this?

His last 3 speeches were he discussed restrictions and measures have been anything but generic.

I don't see what An Taoiseach has done wrong.
I'd rather have his 'generic' speeches than the original rubbish that Boris or Trump have been spouting. T
    heir fearlessness has killed people.

You are using the word "Amazing" wrong.

You've been proven to be a complete liar right there John, just admit you're full of rubbish and we'll all move on.

When I was following the HSE and govt advice?? Why would they do that?? Logic not your strong point?

I am pretty sure that Government advice two weeks ago was to not go crowded pubs and events. They just hadn't banned them yet.

It there was ever an example of the modern lack of personal responsibility this post is it.

Hopefully, by mid-summer we'll be back to normal. Brexit trade deals & the steady march to slow down global warming. This blasted virus is like the most surreal drug induced dream.

Hahaha, were you asleep for the past ten years??

When we went from a basket case economy with 18% unemployment to full employment and one of the best performing economies in Europe. Sure they could have done some things better in hindsight but then I'm guessing so could you.

I don't vote for or support either of them.

Sorry but that was in reference to the night before. I can admit it doesn't read like that, but the Saturday night was, with people saying goodbye and see you after all this is over (like at Xmas).

Read your words, you literally said on the 15th that you just came back from the pub and there was Xmas Eve feel, is vibe not another word feel in this context?

Advice was to avoid crowds of over 100, then over 50. I did both.

The goalposts aren't even on the pitch anymore with this post.

You went for pints on the afternoon of the 15th, posted here at about 5 o'clock saying you were just back from the pub.

But now that you've been caught out, it's all changed. **** off hahaha

Just heard this morning a lad from our estate is in a high dependency unit in hospital with the virus. He was out and about in Dublin city centre drinking in the pubs in the lead up to the closure and was diagnosed last Saturday with Covid19 according to my neighbour. He's only in his mid 20's also and i am unaware of any underlying health conditions he may have. Thought it was a bit strange not seeing him or his family out and about because they have 2 dogs which they frequently walk but obvious now they all in self isolation. Unsure if high dependency means ICU or not that's all the info iv'e been told at the minute.

So schools etc. closed two weeks now, should we not see benefits now in the next few days? Why are they still saying we will see a huge wave coming (setting up morgues etc.). Is that due to it being in community so long? When should we see the benefit?

Despite all the scaremongering.. Will you agree now all the curtailing may be worth it in the long run?

Please take your petty squabbling to private messaging.

    Thanks

Someone who disregarded government advice on Covid is now blaming the outbreak on the government. I think that's a legitimate point of discussion on the Covid-19 thread.

Call a moderator if you disagree, by all means.

We probably are seeing the benefit, it would be much worse had we not closed the schools.

We are seeing the benefits already, our numbers are pretty good compared to other countries.

Expected indications over the next week or so and onwards is what they have been saying. Morgues are just planning for the worst.

It looks like we're already seeing the benefit- we're staying on track with the lower estimates for the spread.

I think it's a case of hoping for the best but planning for the worst, at this point. If it ends up being too much, I'm okay with that.
