Who is Paddy Cosgrove and why are people listening to him?

A person who has a serious vendetta against the government, long history there and has a Twitter account.

Thanks for the post. Please see the highlighted section of mine. I've addressed your concerns.

Do you know that there is enough PPE for our frontline staff. Stick to the issue. I think we can all agree Paddy is a prick. Don't know him personally. He is raising a valid point.

What do you think about Conor mcgregor? Bet you don't like him either.

    Tyson fury?

Wait who is allowed share information about this crisis
    .

    They're all gods***es

who is allowed to share information? The department of health, the CMo, the HSE, the government.

    Anything else is unverified hearsay

Taking social media for granted, we should take whatsapp for granted, and seemingly we've had martial law for the past 3 weeks

And quote themselves ad infinitum, a highly sought after skill.

And if we do it, what do we lose out as a result? Your presumption is that we can arbitrarily do it, so what’s the downside? What might we lose?

Whatever we lose will not trump protecting front line staff and saving lives. Would you agree?

It doesn't have to be done forever, Germany did it to build up reserves and have started exporting again to EU countries.

So it’s not just having the 2 symptoms...you need to be in a “risky” group as well.

From RTÉ article “ Patients will have to display two major symptoms - a fever and either a cough or shortness of breath - and fall into a priority group in order to be tested.

These are close contacts of a confirmed case, healthcare staff and vulnerable groups.”

It's going to make a huge difference to the folks trying to isolate from others, in a very confined space. Having people isolate for weeks on end, in cramped spaces is seriously detrimental to mental health and shouldn't be done if it isn't absolute necessary. Think of one parent stuck in a room for weeks trying to avoid passing to others, when they may not even have it, but can't get tested.

You still have to self isolate while you're awaiting for a test and then for your test results anyway.

Really. This guy is the worst possible human being to be in such a position.

Some amount of b****ing the last few pages.

The issue of PPE is being addressed as mentioned in the press conference last night. We are not the only country experiencing these issues, we had to negotiate a deal with China to get PPE sent over. Every country affected needs more! There are also mass stockpiles ready to go. We aren't seeing nurses and doctors assessing patients without wearing PPE are we? Where is the proof of it if so? We have been told there is plenty of PPE on the way.

Do you think that is sufficient PPE to protect themselves?

Was there a chance of you passing nuclear war onto the person next to you? These people are idiots.

    No..
But in fairness to the cold war babbies...
You can't hug someone with nuclear arms ;)

No I wouldn’t agree to anything before seeing what the consequences might be. We aren’t Germany or USA , these countries have a far greater ability to influence and recover then we do.

It’s the same sort of idea as using the Apple money. Sounds like a good idea but once you break normal protocols you can’t control how that might play out or the direct or indirect issues that arise.

Trump was always just a big joke, but it isn't really funny more.

I can see him firing whoever disagrees with him.

If that happens he will need to be sanctioned.

    as per the WHO yes.

everyone else, if you feel sick, stay the f at home.

assume you have it, and if it gets serious go to your GP or hospital

Please don't mischaracterise what I'm saying. I'm not panicking. If people who are working in wards are saying there is not enough PPE, then that is who I will listen to. If they are being suppressed from speaking out on the situation that is a disgrace.

People need to be aware of what is being asked of the front line staff.

Is it possible their superiors are rationing it as much as possible.

I know that’s what I have done in every job I have done if I now I am going to hit a brick wall.

It’s a good to not tell the frontline staff that you have loads of stock as they will then treat it like there no end to it.

The more I listen to various spokespeople trying to explain what the new regime means for all of us, the more I come to the conclusion that the whole thing has not been thought through at all. We are committing economic suicide which will result in the eventual breakdown of our social fabric.
There really is no plan in place.

In the current climate ye should be grateful ye still have jobs to go to.there is people at home with nothing

That's not the point i'm making. We're doing non essential work when we shouldn't be travelling for one. And two we could be redeployed to something more productive at this time.

You're only taking the angle you did to have a cut at me. Your earlier big list of whinges was judgemental BS. Know it all. You think you're better than everyone. The 'gombeens' as you call them.

Whats the difference between a private hospital and a private factory?? They've already taken over private hospitals.

They don't have to take over anything.

Ban exports for 3 weeks like Germany did.

I can't really see how people have a problem with it, because of some vague consequence.

The consequences of not having enough PPE is real and dire.

You don’t see the difference between a private hospital or private beds for Irish people versus a private company with orders from abroad? Seriously?

  • Would you ever fk off with your hypochondriac ****e. What evidence do you have of that?

They are overstretched and have to prioritise, you are taking a leap saying hypochondriacs are clogging up the system.

You're awfully sensitive. Just have a look through this thread, you've people who think they had this back at the tail end of last year.

No, I think you shouldn’t demand things without understanding the consequences. Who are we relying on for important goods or supplies that may be effected by us commandeering these supplies?

I have a gripe with the main national newspapers charging to view online content related to the corona virus. The New York Times made all their corona virus stories free weeks ago.

There are two stories that appeared in my Facebook time line this morning that seemed important and I wanted to read them but they were behind a pay wall. Seems a little but wrong to me.

Maybe so. Why are so many of our confirmed cases Health care workers?

:D Attack the post not the poster. What are rules on bold font sorry if I've upset you.

Luckily we have an open internet. CCP did a good job suppressing information. It seems that slick press conferences , men in suits , and vague stats seem to give you comfort to not question anything.

Do you think we have enough PPE for front line staff?
