Do you want them running the risk of infecting who knows how many people on the way "home"???? The whole world is tackling this virus at the moment. We are all affected, doesn't matter where we are. Any country's win is a win for the whole world at the moment. It was a stupid initiative anyway.

Self isolate them for two weeks, then they are free to help out of a serious rut that is very likely to last a year or more

UK not fvcks given......How many machines do we have in the state?

Army moves in: Military seize testing machines from private laboratories for urgent coronavirus checks on NHS staff

Someone posted a number of over 1000 now, with orders of 90 a week I think.

It seems to be B, but don't worry too much. When I've gotten head colds about the first thing to go is sense of smell and taste. It could just be a head cold.

Great news about the private hospitals.

Must have missed that part. Can someone tell me? My girlfriend is a nurse in a private hospital.

What difference does it make if Leo Says a Lockdown! Just stay at home and shut up! FFS

Goodness me the south Dublin millionaires in their 3k a night hospital suites will be appalled! ;)

Theres alot of nonsense in this speech, Leo seizing his reeling in the years moment.

Some of the information relating to business supports/unemployment assistance is extremely vague.

Looks fairly sensible moves from the government. Still leaves a bit more room to tighten up if needed.

How many of these machines do we have in the country. Pharma and bio exports are huge in Ireland. We must have **** load.
A Government review has identified hundreds of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines in use at universities and companies that are able to detect the virus' genetic material.

Not sure it's a great idea, economically it makes sense, but this isn't an economic emergency.

It absolutely is going to be.

Half measures IMO. I suppose I should be thankful my workplace can remain open but the fact I have to use public transport to get there is a concern. One of my colleagues who has been off since Paddy's day was back today freaked out. When I asked why they were back they said they'd been hounded to come back. Bad form from my Boss who I normally have a lot of respect for.

Societal structures similar in aspect to Italy are at play here as well unfortunately, ie, alot of young Spanish adults live at home with their parents. Spanish youth unemployment being very high wouldn’t help either. Younger people who maybe just have a very mild infection by and large are easily passing it on to older relatives as a consequence.

Accomodation sharing (with family or with flatmates) must certainly be a factor.

If you take a house share with 4 flatmates from 4 different Counties, they have close contacts not only with each other, but also with 4 different workplaces and then with 4 different sets of friends and 4 different families.

Dublin (together with London) must be the European capital with the highest number of accomodation sharing.

Yes. Surprised about that. The unions are not happy.
All my work is on building sites but I'm not sure how happy I am with that either. Sanitary conditions are not good in any of these sites and with so much physical work, sharing tools, toilets, getting stuff from wholesalers every day etc. I feel the need to self-isolate every time I come home.
As much as it would cost I was still sort of hoping sites would close for a period

Its their moment to be statesmanlike. Keep it short, sweet and clear. Less is more.

It absolutely is going to be.

Apologies - my phrasing is off in my post,

This isn't primarily an economic emergency, it's a primarily a health emergency. Construction, in particular large sites - should be curtailed. Solo tradesmen not so much but sites with >100 workers should be closed imo.

Switched it off when Harris started speaking. I've no interest in listening to someone I've no respect for.
