I'm impressed with our government's handling of this so far

If they stopped flights coming in that weren't cargo, I would be happier. Other than that they've handled things adeptly.

An accountant can go to work if he/she can maintain social distancing?
A builder can work on a new house? Concrete can be delivered?
    A garage can operate?
    Marts are closed?
Courts are closed down but solicitors can go to work?
    Postman can work?
The council can surface a road?
A man can come to adjust your satellite dish
A vet can go to look at a sick cow?
A food market can go ahead?
A landscape gardener can visit a site?
A farrier can shoe a horse?

Are you asking us a lot of questions or are you telling us all of the above are fine to do?

Welcome to boards.ie sadly where about 90% of people are experts and know everything.

If that makes you sad whatever you do don't visit a site called "twitter". It's like boards but with Americans

Heseltine quote. "(Boris is) a man who waits to see which way the crowd is running and then dashes in front and says 'follow me'"

These are my people. I am their leader. I must follow them.

I doubt that, many many people have been tested more than a week ago and have no results, so maybe it is from test results rather than tests but we dont know if its test results from today or 3 days ago or 5.

Its a bit of a clusterfcuk, maybe the UK have it right and were only testing really sick people because they knew they couldn't actually process tests for just anyone with symptoms.

Obviously we are doing lots of testing but whats the point if the labs can't keep up.

I see lots of people giving out about social distancing with picture of traffic jams.

I dont understand how this illustrates any poor social distancing behavior? People are in cars, most are just going for a spin, some are going for a stroll in some isolated spot and a very very small minority are meeting friends at the beach etc.

I think overall we are doing well, there will always be a few knobs, perhaps some further tightening is needed but people should still be allowed drive their cars or go for walks whilst socially distancing.

Statistics can be anything you want.
Ireland 4 deaths. UK 335 deaths.
    4 into 335 = 84
    5 million into 66 million = 13.2
Pro rata, Ireland should have 26 deaths.

On March 14th the UK had 1,140 confirmed cases and 21 deaths
On February 29th Italy had 1,128 confirmed cases and 29 deaths
On March 9th, Spain had 1,231 confirmed cases and 30 deaths

Can anybody explain what the criteria for introducing a lockdown would be.

Probably something similar to what they implemented in Greece
The record leap in infections prompted prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ centre-right government to further restrict movement on Monday in what, with few exceptions, has amounted to a comprehensive lockdown for all citizens in Greece. Those living in the country now have to register with authorities, or send prior notice via SMS to a government hotline, if they venture outdoors – or risk being slapped with a fine of 150 euros that will go into a fund to support the health system

Why does Sharon Ni Bheolain (and Mary Wilson) pronounce police(the verb) as “pleece “ (OT I know....)

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 886 ✭✭✭NasserShammaz

Most Police services use spit-masks for such filth. The individual is restrained and it is pulled down over their faces.

Having worked in the area for many years the spitting is new , and obviously pure skum but the rest constantly harassing people anti social behaviour pig ignorance all normal, just a day with the animals...

With less people around and less tolerance for such vile behaviour in what is a difficult time hopefully a severe biding will be the order of the day and after this is over zero tolerance for these vermin any more

Right . Ps how did you social distance in the car ?

We have face masks - ppf3 reusable, purchased at the beginning of February along with the chest freezer, sanitiser gel, and gloves.

We’ve also got 70+ of food and plenty of panadol.

Do you want to see the dashcam footage?

Finding worthwhile posts in this thread is like sitting on the banks of a river of fast flowing sewrage trying to pick out a few chestnuts of knowledge before they sweep by in the stench of self pity.

The good posts are there but who has the time or desire to trawl through the acres of shiiiiiite to find them?
You managed to miss the hundred people queuing for fish and chips yesterday, to be fair.
