I think some people will be disappointed, if in a few weeks it looks like Leo did a good job
I can't stand him or his party but I can tell you, I won't.
And it won't be decided on 'looks like' it'll be decided on outcome.

I had to pick up my SIL from the airport, and drove from Rathcoole then up the Naas Rd early this evening. lots of adults walking closely in groups in the village, 3 or 4 people. No social distancing, and these were people in their forties or fifties. Also several groups of teenagers, mid teens by the Subway.

Then in the Naas Rd, there’s a group of 10/15 teenagers playing chicken crossing the road just past the service station, all in dark clothing. Where are their parents??

My SIL arrived from Poland, via Germany. She had her temperature taken before boarding the shuttle, then again at the airport then here again on arrival.
Most people doing most things most of the time is what they want, not 100% compliance. Their market research suggests that over 90% of us are responding appropriately.

Statistics can be anything you want.
Ireland 4 deaths. UK 335 deaths.
    4 into 335 = 84
    5 million into 66 million = 13.2
Pro rata, Ireland should have 26 deaths.

It's increased by 50%! The exclamation mark is for those obsessing over ever-changing and hard to contextualise figures on an hourly basis. Trends are over time; figures are extremely important, but they need to be approached in this context from more of a weekly standpoint, not a daily/hourly one.

You seem to be delighted anyway.
That is a totally stupid response, check the trust of my posts.

The very least to be expected from the HSE after the Cervical Smear enquiry was that they had sorted out issues to do with notifying the test result findings to patients and put robust SOPs in place - they haven't.

I have had an increasingly bad feeling in my gut arising from their obfuscation of the figures, but hadn't really believed that the old system was still in place.

RTE's Northern correspondent saying that the lockdown in the UK is putting pressure on the Republic to impose one. Trying to tell us what to do when they've only just implemented something from nothing until now. Fcuk off.

Unlikely I would have thought : Portugal has different restrictions to Spain (their ones - Portuguese - are similar to ours).

IFA looking for help for beef farmers in this trying time. Jaysus christ, they never waste a crisis.

Maybe they could cull a few beasts and plant some spuds and veg. Keep themselves fed at least

They'll probably try and shout louder than the rest of us the IFA are use to that we're not!?
they can wait in line like everybody else....

It is mayhem walked from Connolly station up talbot street you have dozens of young lads on bikes spitting on people and laughing

This is disgusting but what should we expect from the local "salt of the earth " or vermin as we call them. I hope in this situation the guards will now have the chance to beat the living **** out of them and not face sanction, call it public service. Equally I hope they transmit this to their skum families and have to live with it for the rest of their pox ridden lives.

These are the skum from north strand and surrounding areas for their families and parents I have one message , your children are vermin and they will probably do you more damage .

Today's figures will be from tests undertaken 3+ days ago. You will only see the impact of increased testing later this week

I doubt that, many many people have been tested more than a week ago and have no results, so maybe it is from test results rather than tests but we dont know if its test results from today or 3 days ago or 5.

Farmers got **** all help last year before this crisis, the vast majority of them are working full time jobs to subsidise the farming enterprise, when the 9-5 packs in i doubt they'll be entitled to claim the out of work allowance yet they'll still be expected to provide food at a loss.

Farmers won't have a pot to piss in but they won't starve either, think carefully before berating the hand that literally feeds you.

Finding worthwhile posts in this thread is like sitting on the banks of a river of fast flowing sewrage trying to pick out a few chestnuts of knowledge before they sweep by in the stench of self pity.

The good posts are there but who has the time or desire to trawl through the acres of shiiiiiite to find them?

Where are they supposed to get tillage/spud machinery from? The magic money tree?

Contractors do most of the work these days. Theres potatoe farmers close to me looking for extra land to lease.

I just like having a gripe at beef/farm associations, not the farmers themselves

I agree with the line that you really, really, really need to think carefully and plan carefully for when you do the 'full lockdown' bit.
After you do, there's really nothing left in the weaponry.

However, I think a phased drafting of police maybe army at say amenities (beaches, parks, sights etc) to gently disperse the wnkers would be okay.
It'd get people use to seeing them around before the inevitable.

Also, caravan parks & holiday homes etc should be a no-no (see Donegal for example)

Classic kneejerk reaction. Our Government was vastly more competent until the abrupt change of tact by Boris tonight.

    It's 'change of tack'.
It's laughable to see the amount of people more concerned with what the British are doing and comparing our government with theirs.
Classic inferiority complex mixed with plain old anti-British nonsense.
Our government have been far from competent or decisive. They're afraid and unable to make hard decisions.

Yup, our numbers might as well be the lotto when it comes to trying to see if we are doing better or worse.

I think things will settle next week when the results of our social distancing start to kick in. I mean the more cases the find now the better long term, at least thats what i'm thinking as of now.

Most Police services use spit-masks for such filth. The individual is restrained and it is pulled down over their faces.

Meat is too cheap, plain and simple. They dont get enough for it.

Im from a farming background so I know whats involved.

If we end up with a lockdown similar to the UK where you can still go to work
An accountant can go to work if he/she can maintain social distancing?
A builder can work on a new house? Concrete can be delivered?
    A garage can operate?
    Marts are closed?
Courts are closed down but solicitors can go to work?
    Postman can work?
The council can surface a road?
A man can come to adjust your satellite dish
A vet can go to look at a sick cow?
A food market can go ahead?
A landscape gardener can visit a site?
A farrier can shoe a horse?
