    Ah right.

So 335 deaths was the magic number. Obviously Johnson is making the right call at the exact time.

Add in those who will die in the course of the inevitable lag of of the next couple of weeks.

I hope that those deaths were worth your few extra days of being able to go to the pub :(

so we sadly have six deaths in Ireland, but no lockdown. Are those six deaths worth it?

tell me, why did you give yourself the same name as an orange skinned ****wit?

Why is this our main news headline and top story when two of our own died and we have 219 new cases? RTE are a disgrace.

much easier for the government mouthpiece RTE to point the finger and shout "Look over there".

So where's your proof that these measures being brought in from tomorrow are more effective than if the same measures had been brought in six days ago.

Ah, I see. Like theological, you don't have any. Just blind faith in the Papal Infallibility of Boris. Prove me wrong: give us a link to a study that shows this is the right measure at the right time.

it is in the same study that shows that it isn't I believe

there is no rule book for this. The UK is doing what it believes to be correct for the UK, the Irish government is doing what it thinks is correct for Ireland.

    Is that all ya got?

FFS. Take a break from the internet lad.

Go back to licking Johnsons hole for going around and making a big deal out of making sure he was still shaking hands with everyone and that it was nothing to worry about. and for faffing around for over a week while the infected population multiplies exponentially.

You're obsessed with Ireland. By any chance are you that fella who, when asked why the UK was going a different direction to the rest of the world, and Ireland was mentioned, decided to claim that we don't have a health service.

so you still can't tell me what the enforced movement measures are in place in Ireland?

Are you really so intellectually challenged that you can't see that what's happening in Ireland is irrelevant to a discussion entitled The UK response to Covid-19. Other than the top corner, Ireland hasn't been part of the UK for almost 100 years.

And besides: perhaps you've heard the expression "two wrongs don't make a right"? Just because Johnson has made serious errors in his handling of this problem doesn't mean others aren't also making mistakes.

It says a lot that you are completely unable to offer any defence for Johnson's policy of dither and delay other than "but look at Ireland!"

This is important, it shows how things can change in a neighbouring country. This will emphasise things to people here without having to actually bring in similar restrictions.

Aah nice one Donald, nice one.

So would that be Ireland waiting on herd immunity to kick in before it turns things up to 11 on the lock down scale then?

Unfortunately, the UKs government decisions directly impact the Republic of Ireland.
Everyday there are hundreds & hundreds of northern Irish people coming down south to work. I guarantee that won't stop now because of UK knockdowns. They should have restricted movement weeks ago, like we did.
But we should have shut down that border. We should now.

I have to hand it to you, you hands down win the award for being able to give it, but not take it.

You made the claim, he is asking a follow up question to your claim. Why cant you answer him?

Surely that is the fault of the employers not closing non essential businesses is it not?

No, because the restrictions we have in place seem to be working well.
However, that's for people here, not for people coming from Northern Ireland, with no restrictions for the past 2 weeks.

Fair play to Boris. Showing true leadership since the beginning of this crisis. Not like us, allowing the Italian rugby fans in a few weeks ago was a disgrace & people have paid for it with their lives.

I wonder how seriously the loyal british subjects would take it if the british queen or a few members of her household get this........................might not be so tally-ho for Boris then!

When are we going to follow suit? There are still too many people here gambling with everyone's health.

Let's worry about Ireland, the UK have went their own way.

They were extremely late to the party, for once I'm actually very surprised as we did close up much earlier but the letting flights and travel as normal wasn't a good idea and distance rules were too late also.

That's where you're wrong: there is a rule book for it. One that I had to read, and had exam questions on. The rules are written into our biology (and that of the viruses). Unfortunately for several thousand Brits, their glorious leader decided to break them, and they will pay for his selfishness with their lives.

They’re not really though. He bottled closing companies down.

I thought Johnson's speech was good. Assertive and convincing. Thought Varadker was a bit wishy washy. But I thank the gods that we are not having to listen to Micheal Martin (very much) at this time.

    Err..have you forgotten Cheltenham?

I love how people keep bringing up Cheltenham.

Thousands of irish went there and returned home,

Irish owners, trainers, jockeys went there, they returned home and are still attending race meetings.

Cheltenham surge hasn't even hit the UK or Ireland yet.
