Well on track to replicate Italy and a farcical backlog on getting results.

Hardly farcical. There are only so many tests you can do in a day. Each test takes 6hrs to complete.

    25 in ICU.

    Was it 29 yesterday?
So unfortunately 2 have died, but some others must be out of ICU?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,103 ✭✭✭This is it

    2 more dead

    1012 total cases

    I think that's wrong? 906 + 215 = 1121

219 Today folks, an increase of 24%, that's 6% under the 30% prediction.

    25 in ICU.

    That's less than yesterday

This is still almost 10% less than the 30% growth predicted.

Better not as people will visit them...instead of avoiding

In offices and not WFH? Care to give one example of a non-essential place that can close down without big impact? ie a non-pharma

Boris address to the nation at 8:30pm. Not the usual press conference. Predictions of some big changes afoot for us here.

40,000 waiting on tests....we're averaging 1 in 10 positive afaik

We could potentially be looking at 10,000 extra by weekend

    What?

40000 awaiting tests. 1 in 1 positive. 10000?? Am I missing something in these figures?

They will try to get leaving cert done but other then that I say they know it is over for all school years. Will it mean people will stay in the year there in for primary, secondary, college. My nephew be gutted to say in primary school one more year

I really doubt it - They won't have missed that much...

This is still almost 10% less than the 30% growth predicted.

This attitude is why the figure is increasing every day.

Which is below the predicted number

We were always going to have cases

Anything below the predictions of 15000 is a Positive

Sure say we miss the predicted 15000 by even half does that not just mean we will have the 15000 number a few days later?

    I don’t think there’s anyway we’re reaching 15,000 by next week.

    1125 total cases 6 deaths

6 is obviously 6 too many but the mortality so far is far less than the 3 or 4% elsewhere (or worse in Italy).

Schools are only closed 2 weeks this Thursday so that should start to make a difference soon, We will see an increase but not a steep one in the next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,749 ✭✭✭✭ACitizenErased

Worst case scenario imo is ~4000 cases.

    2000 tests a day, 40000 waiting.
20 days to clear backlog at the current rate.
Need to seriously ramp up the testing

This is still almost 10% less than the 30% growth predicted.

I'm hoping today is an outlier and tomorrow's figure drops below 200 again.

Boris Johnson set to address the nation at 8.30pm tonight.

There is speculation he could announce that tougher restrictions will be brought in over the coronavirus outbreak.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab advises all Britons travelling abroad who are usually based in the UK to return to the UK now
