Just now in the local LIDL I saw some owl one telling a young lad to stand back. He replied by telling her to move forward or leave the shop. She shut her gob and moved forward. Pandemic or not, nobody has the right to boss people around. Some people like the woman here think the situation gives them the right to be rude. Spoiler alert, it doesent. I gave the young lad a thumbs up in the car park for his troubles, legend.

Christ you really see some absolute dribbling on this thread but this might be the most idiotic post yet.

It's passed on mainly through air particles right? This sounds nuts but is there nothing we can do to break up those air particles? Like when you spray something in the same air does that have no affect? Is there a spray that could be invented?

AN IRISH man who attended the Cheltenham racing festival two weeks ago has tested positive for Covid-19.

The man - who is based in the south - is not seriously ill and has not
    required hospitalisation.

However, he has been told to remain in strict self-isolation.

At no point will we reach the stage where we're going to have extralegal punishments.

You have no idea if that's true or not.

Do these Irish people flocking to Glendalough and packing out coffee shops think the Italians/Spanish/French are joking?

Are they that arrogant that they think it won’t be them or their family member alone in ICU with a breathing tent over their heads to equalise the pressure in their lungs or laid prone in a vain attempt to stimulate oxygenation of their blood?

They haven't broken any law so they couldn't be fined. At no point will we reach the stage where we're going to have extralegal punishments.

The best enforcement is going to be the court of public opinion

You have no idea if that's true or not.

Why? Do you think it's likely that there will be a breakdown of law and order and Gardaí are going to go around making up **** as they go along? There's is literally no chance whatsoever of this happening.

Those fcukers who went over to Cheltenham have blood on their hands. Shame on them.

Give over would you? Multiple daily flights to and from the UK bringing many more people back and forth. Whole I agree it was irresponsible, it does not warrant the attention it gets with borders with the UK open despite the UK's approach. Chip on your shoulder about Cheltenham folk tbh.

Even if 30,000 of those are positive tests it doesn’t really matter where it counts - the ICU and hospitals. The numbers hospitalised is what matters.

Some people probably think they are "legend" to do it. You probably get similar type cheering them on.

Others care only about money and are happy to cause deaths to "save" the economy.

No, but emergency laws can be passed to deal with it. So yes it could happen.

Key point: It is unclear whether the man contracted Covid-19 in Cheltenham or in Ireland.

May as well say 100s that attended shops test positive for covid 19.

Please don't defend this prick or his ilk here. Those who travelled back from Cheltenham knew the risks and still took the decision to play Russian roulette with innocent peoples lives.

Is that Glendalough? This is the folly of telling everyone to go out and enjoy the fine weather, because some brats won't be civic minded. At least in bad weather you won't have these reckless fools about. It's not fair on those who do go out and heed the advice about adequate social distance, but this is why more draconian measures are needed.

Not necessarily, the number went to 12 in the last briefing, briefing stats on covid that we get daily are at least 2 days behind. We were steady at 6 for a good few days.

The only up to date number we get given daily is test cases confirmed.

It's gone from 6 to 29 in the space of about 10 days.

Wouldn't be surprised if that 29 included the 14 that tested positive from a nursing home. Would account for the quick rise.

Does that figure not include everyone in ICU including those without covid-19?

People should not have went to Cheltenham. Everyone knew how serious the situation was before the festival started. They were packed in and then their diesase riden carcasses were dispersed around the country

Except for shops I've seen very little social distancing, went to my usual walking spot this morning. Passed 3 groups of 5+ people walking directly beside each other likewise with anyone else I passed. People are morons

They've all been shutdown now and gardai turning cars away

Saw today on Euronews today that in Austria they are fining people up to 3,000 € for failing to observe social distancing rules.
We need to start doing more than just moving them on.

And the percentage who actually have it out of that 40k will be quite small.

Literally anyone with a cold is ringing a gp looking to be tested

Many GP's won't recommend a test unless you have both a fever & persistent cough.

I have some small bit sympathy for the crowds at Glendalough etc. I live in a rural area. It's piss easy for me to get out in the fresh air and maintain social distancing. If I go for a walk on the road, I might meet a handful of people also out walking. Easy to go by them if they're going in the same direction, and if they're going in the opposite direction they're on the other side of the road anyway. Somebody stuck in an urban area had no idea the world and its mother was roaming around Wicklow yesterday when they set out. But obviously later arrivals shouldn't have bothered getting out of their cars and should have just turned around and gone elsewhere.

No, through contact of contaminated surfaces with your mouth/mucus membranes or breathing in infectious aerosol droplets from a cough or sneeze, which normally fall out of the air a few seconds after the cough or sneeze. If there's noone around you you won't get it from breathing it in.

No, but emergency laws can be passed to deal with it. So yes it could happen.

Then it's not extralegal. Which was my point. There is no chance of extralegal punishments being handed out.
