I understand this is replicated elsewhere and with other stores.
If so it's another example of how we Irish adjust in a wonderful way to difficult times without a fuss.
Compare the UK headlines about how British spirits of WW2, blitz, etc is highlighted in their papers as how they'll get through this while in reality much of the population runs amok in supermarkets with a totally selfish approach.

In fairness it was only last week that there were plenty of peopke in this country (Ireland) running amok in supermarkets with a totally selfish approach.

Take the numbers in context. It was steady at 6 for more than a week. Then went to 12. Now 14 in a nursing home tested positive, you can be sure they're probably in ICU.
Sudden jumps were expected.

If half of our people got it - 2.5 million - and only a tiny 0.1% needed ICU care, that is 2500 people, it would overwhelm our health system and block people sick with other conditions from help.

I really think a sharp short shock of 2 to 4 weeks complete close down except for absolute essentials until we are better equipped with tests, masks, sanitisation supplies, machines, beds and mostly verified information, would be the most humane and wise thing a government can do. Anything less is playing hard and fast with people's lives no matter how it is dressed up semantically.

I didn't know the nursing home bit, but as this progresses chances are even more facilities like that will be hit. So while it's a spike more spikes are inevitable. We ve seen a spike from 6 to 12 and 12 to 29 so far.
