As the number goes up the testing cant be sustained to keep at 30% so thats why you get a dropoff in percentages id imagine.

There is some lung damage to people who have had the virus, but they don' know if it is permanent or not ( it might heel over time )

No that's not what you said, and you're still wrong.

Not everyone will be tested. If you have no symptoms, you won't call up, you will not be a worry for the authorities and therefore won't be tested. This is the vast majority (to quote Leo) of the population who will be in this category.

You claimed that Leo has said the 'vast majority' (which for a normal speaker of English means 80%+) will be in the 'category' of 'no symptoms'.

This is absolutely incorrect. For 80% of people the virus will be 'mild' (but this just means you won't need medical care, you spend a couple of says in bed with a temperature and cough taking over the counter drugs and will start to feel better in a couple of days)

A smaller number (something like 20%) will be lucky enough to be asymptomatic, i.e. their symptoms (if they exist at all) will be so mild the person won't even think they're ill.

The belief now is that the virus had been present in Italy for quite a while before they diagnosed a case and it got lumped in with flu data before that. By the time they paid attention quite a few were already moving towards the severe stage. They didn't seem to do enough of the now requisite testing and contract tracing, the lockdowns have been slack and their system became overwhelmed and they ear now in the situation where the cannot look after all of those in the serious to critical stage. We started on it a lot earlier and things so far do not show a risk of overwhelming the system.

I understand the anxiety as there are family and friends who've elected to stay in while this is on. I see 80% with mild cases as a positive. In fact most stats on the Worldometer site has mild cases at closer to 100%. All we can do is stay safe and keep those who are important to us safe.

Sadly the nursing home model is also not 100% safe to protect the elderly.

An army tent was being set up as a testing centre at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny last Friday. Testing from there will probably feed into the national picture from Tuesday. With the ramping up of testing nationwide, it is likely that we are going to have increased levels with the virus next week

People just need to hear the advise and we'll drastically limit the spread. Standing too close behind someone is no adhering to the social distancing that's been drilled into us. Old people will bear the brunt of this and there's a certain arrogance from younger people that there somehow immune, which seems to have come across in this particular confrontation. Young people will also spread this e ponwnrialky unless they cop the fcuk on. What happened to just respecting older people, virus or not?

They do but they don't have the right to automatically assume delinquency on the part of others. Make sure your own behaviour is appropriate first.

Yep. Folks with a partner confirmed positive waiting over a week for a test in some parts of the country.

I mean even standard influenza A or B will knock most people for a few days.
