    Virtue signalling by Simon!

There are enough laws to close these pubs, licencing laws etc. If they want them closed, send the Guards out to clear the houses, prosecute them for opening, bring them to court and fine them, fine anyone 'found on', revoke their licence, and object when they apply again.

There are laws there, fvcking enforce them! Never mind making up new ones.

(This is not to excuse pubs opening, if they should be closed, they should close, and it's obviously a waste of resources chasing them, but FFS the country still needs to be policed, and we never had more Gaurds!)

Can they not immediately revoke a licence anyway?

Some commentators are noting that Italian family structure may be an important factor too. Alot of 18-34 year olds apparently live with their older relatives. If alot of these young people are exhibiting no or very mild symptoms it still makes them extremely dangerous to the older people in the house. Doesn’t take much to imagine what happens next unfortunately. Hopefully the Irish ‘flee the nest’ approach might save alot of our older people in contrast.

The elderly must be protected - even if they don't live with younger relatives.
Unfortunately the virus has been spreading in nursing homes - see the US, UK, France precedents.

I know exactly what teens are like they are impossible and I use to be one.;)

Me having a little rant is not painting them anyway and I am sure they don't care anyway.

Having teens in groups is spreading this thing and by the way I was calling people packing pubs in Dublin the other weekend selfish pricks and they were adults.

We need to get EVERYBODY to play along to try and get on top of this thing.

It will be a nice chat to have with little Timmy to explain that he has killed is Grandma it is that serious.

Your point about the seriousness of this is correct and I suppose rant away if it makes you feel better.

but the adversarial approach is wrong and needs to be kept in check.
As this crisis progresses, we are going to face hurdles around social cohesion and civil unrest. we need to be very careful about our attitudes as well as actions.

The present crisis has shown up Greta Thunberg and co. Shown her to be a child, immature.

She was in the headlines throughout 2019. She could easily be posting online messages that her peer group and followers would see, on how to behave responsibly during the virus spread. She could call on certain governments for lockdown etc. But just a one trick pony.

That leads me to conclude she's just a tool used by others with agenda related to climate change.

People gave out to Martin Luther King when he voiced opposition to Vietnam, that he should stick to civil rights. He replied that he was fighting segregation all his life, he wasn't going to segregate his thoughts.

She is posting online messages. Telling people to follow instruction.
If she was more visible, your message would be she has to make it about her.

    Haters gonna hate.

Hi all. Just my 2 cents here. Hope I'm not breaching any rules.
I've had some symptoms progressing through out the day today and I had to do some deliveries to customers so I was a bit trigger happy in trying to get talking to a doctor for some advice.

Why in the name of f*ck did you continue doing deliveries if you think you have the virus? Have you any idea how irresponsible that is?

As for your test, you have to be referred by a GP. If you're well enough to work and post on Boards, you can wait until Monday.

I'm absolutely astounded that you consider yourself well enough to work and yet seem to think you should take priority over sicker people?

Absolutely, but its very hard to due this currently in the likes of Italy due to their traditional societal structures. I believe we may have a better chance here.

What you are seeing in my posts is frustration.

Italy is going into a proper full lockdown now in Spain and the UK the death rates are climbing at an alarming rate.

This whole situation is a nightmare and I fear good old Leo may be right we are in the calm before the storm.

They might need to do more than that in the long term. Italy's family structures are literally undermining their efforts here. Look at how many Italian children live at home with their parents compared to Britain. A perfect storm for this disease to wreak havoc since its a bigger threat to the older population by and large. I hope that our tendencies to leave the family home eventually (notwithstanding current property problems) save alot of our older people from a similar fate.

I've had some symptoms progressing through out the day today and I had to do some deliveries to customers so I was a bit trigger happy in trying to get talking to a doctor for some advice.
Being a Saturday i knew my GP would not be working but I dialed the primary care centre incase there would be any info given in the "We are unable to take your call message". I guess that would be a bit much to expect.
I then went to the HSE website for the info I needed. Advice given was:
Don't go to a hospital, doctor or pharmacy. Call your GP and they will asses your symptoms and organise a test if necessary. Yeah we have all heard this before.
Anyway I Dialled the local out of hours doctor MiDoc. This seemed logical but didn't turn out that way.
When the doc answered, I obviously started to explain that I believed I may be developing symptoms of the coronavirus but she abruptly stopped me in my tracks saying that she could not do any assessment or provide any test and advised me to contact my GP on Monday.
So I asked her what I should do If my situation deteriorated.
She replied, follow the guidelines on the HSE website.
I then explained that that was what I thought I was doing right now.
She then said she couldn't help me.
I asked her if the coronavirus is a deadly virus?
    She said it is.
I replied, yet I have to wait 48 hours to raise the issue with a doctor? Can I go to A+E.
She said absolutely not, just follow the guidelines on the HSE website.

Moral of the story is don't get Coronavirus at the weekend.

Does this scenario sound balmy to you guys ?
Does anyone know if you can just rock up to a drive thru testing centre without a referral? I'm thinking not.

Not barmy at all. I had a very similar experience myself last Sunday.
No you can`t just show up at a testing centre,. A GP has to refer you for a test.

You're simultaneously so sick that you think you should take priority over incredibly ill people, and yet well enough to go doing deliveries to customers (which you should never have done if you even suspect you might have the virus)?

I'm sure the woman you spoke to got the measure of you and advised you accordingly.

If you really truly believe you are so severely ill that you won't survive the weekend, then call the emergency number for an ambulance.

Otherwise, isolate yourself at home and monitor your symptoms, like everyone else is doing.

    Good God.

You don't need a degree in statistics. It shows in terms of percentages the number living at home with their mothers. One section for Britain, one for Italy.

Anyone know, have Lidl removed those kiosks with the buttons with the smiley/sad faces so you can register how your shopping experience was ? Last time I was in they were still there but that was a few days ago...

Have a 8 year old who can’t sleep because the lovely neighbours (kids in 20’s) are having a piss up in the shed at the bottom of their garden playing load music and singing their little hearts out!
