The present crisis has shown up Greta Thunberg and co. Shown her to be a child, immature.

She was in the headlines throughout 2019. She could easily be posting online messages that her peer group and followers would see, on how to behave responsibly during the virus spread. She could call on certain governments for lockdown etc. But just a one trick pony.

That leads me to conclude she's just a tool used by others with agenda related to climate change.

People gave out to Martin Luther King when he voiced opposition to Vietnam, that he should stick to civil rights. He replied that he was fighting segregation all his life, he wasn't going to segregate his thoughts.

Hi all. Just my 2 cents here. Hope I'm not breaching any rules.
I've had some symptoms progressing through out the day today and I had to do some deliveries to customers so I was a bit trigger happy in trying to get talking to a doctor for some advice.
Being a Saturday i knew my GP would not be working but I dialed the primary care centre incase there would be any info given in the "We are unable to take your call message". I guess that would be a bit much to expect.
I then went to the HSE website for the info I needed. Advice given was:
Don't go to a hospital, doctor or pharmacy. Call your GP and they will asses your symptoms and organise a test if necessary. Yeah we have all heard this before.
Anyway I Dialled the local out of hours doctor MiDoc. This seemed logical but didn't turn out that way.
When the doc answered, I obviously started to explain that I believed I may be developing symptoms of the coronavirus but she abruptly stopped me in my tracks saying that she could not do any assessment or provide any test and advised me to contact my GP on Monday.
So I asked her what I should do If my situation deteriorated.
She replied, follow the guidelines on the HSE website.
I then explained that that was what I thought I was doing right now.
She then said she couldn't help me.
I asked her if the coronavirus is a deadly virus?
    She said it is.
I replied, yet I have to wait 48 hours to raise the issue with a doctor? Can I go to A+E.
She said absolutely not, just follow the guidelines on the HSE website.

Moral of the story is don't get Coronavirus at the weekend.

Does this scenario sound balmy to you guys ?
Does anyone know if you can just rock up to a drive thru testing centre without a referral? I'm thinking not.

you done deliveries today while showing symptoms?

If you have the Virus you have possibly spread the virus to everyone you have delivered to.

My girls have it a bit harder as I was in isolation in St.James's for all but a year(had the whole bring in the family/priests thing twice) -
and then all but lockdown for the following year and hospitalised twice - only saw me every 4/6 weeks for a year and then every 2 weeks since. Every Winter we have to be careful and as we (I) finally thought we could have a cracking year, no hospital this Winter and had approval to take them abroad from Hospital team - this happens.
We've planted seeds - first year I could touch soil, so that's something!

Ah makeandcreate that must have been scary for all of ye. I bet they are delighted to have you home and plenty of time for holidays. Garden best thing for the head.. seed and spud planting here too. Keep well and enjoy time with kids.

Is there any way of convincing these teens that are so concerned about saving the planet to focus on saving their parents and grandparents? Can Greta Thunberg talk to them or something.

If you're taking advice from teenagers then you need to have a chat with yourself.
Encourage them and Plámás them with their messages about the planet but leave it that.

Should we not be approaching the point where testing is beside the point? I mean the main point of testing is to identify people with the virus so they can self-isolate, but shouldn't most people be self-isolating as far as possible already?

Social distancing is different to self isolation. I feel this need to be made clear to people. If you are told to self isolate that means don’t leave you house for anything not even grocery store. You stay in your home for two weeks and don’t leave for walks etc even.

That is my understanding of self isolation versus what most people are being asked to do. I think this needs to be made clear to people as there is a big difference

Teens are stupid and selfish and they don't give a sh*t about the planet they are just parroting a mantra that has been brainwashed into them.

I don't think you can make a blanket statement like that about any age group.

Thankfully we wont be like that.

Not only wont we be like that....but either will Italy. Haha. Not having a pop @ you smelly, just the way others "report" the news.
It's a specific region (the worst hit) that is having stricter measures but on it. Not the entire country.

It's mad all the people blaming Dublin. Didn't the guy in the west of Ireland get it from Italy? He must've been drinking in a Dublin bar over there, full of Dubs

Three Irish cases in Nextstrain are as follows:
-the Dublin one was originated via the Netherlands and/or Bavaria (via Italy)
-one from Limerick was originated via England and/or the Netherlands
-second one from Limerick is 100% from the Netherlands

GP must refer anyone for a test anywhere, self isolate asap, take paracetamol, take care and good luck

There may be a simple answer answer to someone spitting.
I'm a bit forgetful, on the odd occasion I have touched My mouth and just remembered my hands are not clean(cv unclean). Then spitting is a natural reaction to not wanting to swallow a possible virus load.

Before we All turn into police maybe we should just think. We are human, some of us a bit older and maybe a bit slower. Yes we all need to switch on, this is serious. Humans are not all perfect, virus or no virus.

Nah spitting on the street is just digusting, even worse when they blow their nose straight out and f*ck everyone walking on it. Animalistic behaviour

Fair play him. License should be revoked and the people in them should be named and shamed in the papers. Anyone who knows a pub opening should report them.

Exactly, where was this guy during the last few years. Same goes for all the government. They have finally stood up and earned the huge salaries and finally deserve credit.

The declining cases might indicate we've successfully managed to contain some of the spread from Italian flights and the like.

That said I expect our numbers to rise when the virus spread related to UK flights start coming through.

Its critically important the HSE are able to track cases coming from the UK.

Limited flights and mandatory quarantening of UK arrivals is key.

They might need to do more than that in the long term. Italy's family structures are literally undermining their efforts here. Look at how many Italian children live at home with their parents compared to Britain. A perfect storm for this disease to wreak havoc since its a bigger threat to the older population by and large. I hope that our tendencies to leave the family home eventually (notwithstanding current property problems) save alot of our older people from a similar fate.
